Yes, they're real. But I won't ever order again. They are harvesting these oysters way too soon and do not fall into the 5-7 mm size. Not only that, the starter pieces d9 not have enough time to cover in cover/nacker, and are still dull in color. I can't even use them for what i do. After opening 10 different monster oysters, from 2 different sellers, not worth the money or time.

Are they colored and round?

Color variation is pale and subtle- white, cream, pink, and an occasional, pale lavender, blue, and metallic gold. These are freshwater pearls, they come in a variety of shapes, on rare occasions, one might find an almost spherical pearl.

Are these pearls found under the membrane or just shoved and and sealed back up?

This is the "real deal". The pearls are embedded in the membrane of the oyster actually grew them. Some pearls are actually adhered to the shell wall. They are truly fresh water pearls, which come in a variety of shapes. Very few are the near perfectly round spherical shapes generally associate with pearls. there are color variations subtle hues of cream, white, pink, lavende, metallic gold and rare blue. It is fun, a wee bit smelly, and rather fascinating to see the oyster innards full of pearls. Enjoy!
