Fun Simple Project!
The media could not be loaded. Fun project! Needed to practice with soldering before moving on to bigger more expensive projects. I plan to build more as gifts later this year. Took maybe an hour to build. As other reviews have stated, the capacitor, microcontroller, and LEDs need to be installed in a certain orientation. If the chip is oriented incorrectly the whole circuit does not work. Position the capacitor or LEDs with an incorrect +/- position they will not work. Be mindful when soldering where the battery holders are installed. You want the joints flush with the board, do the best you can, otherwise clearance between the board and battery holder becomes an issue. Resistors do not have polarity however for an improved attention to detail set them in the same direction.Pro: Simple circuitry. PCB is well made with clear component locations. Documentation was good enough to work through the build.Con: Power hungry. After 5-6 hours the LEDs were losing intensity. Plus, the flashing sequence becomes a bit lazy over time. Turn off the circuit for 15-20 minutes then turn it back on resolves the issue. Like anything else battery powered, as the batteries drain dim light and slower flashing frequency becomes more pronounced. I tried capturing the effects on camera. It’s more obvious in person.

Perfect for a gift to soldering beginners
The kit is packaged very nicely in a thick clear plastic box. Beware: no batteries included (2 CR2032 needed).Extra resistors and LEDs are included, which is important for a beginner oriented kit. The LEDs are very bright and the components I received looked to be top-shelf quality (Nichicon capacitors and a REAL TI NE555N IC).Instructions are decent and include good pictures. I didn't notice any obvious Engrish (no Google Translate), but I wasn't looking too hard as I only glanced at the instructions.Battery life is a few days before one of the colors of LED stops lighting up.If you intend to give a completed kit as a gift, the included box is not deep enough to fit the completed ornament as it is too tall with the battery sockets installed. If you're crafty, I would replace the included ribbon and chain with your own supplies, an ornament hook is nicer and the ribbon is folded up in the package. I suppose you could try flattening it with an iron on the lowest setting (ribbon is made of synthetic material).

Fun and easy DIY soldering project
Fun and easy DIY soldering project for anyone getting into the hobby. Read the directions. You have to get the resistors and capacitor installed and clipped before putting the battery compartments on.Batteries are not included, there are 2 ornaments and each ornament requires 2 CR2032 batteries. LEDs are definitely very bright. Good quality, good build, about 30 minutes to put together.

Simple and easy project.
This project was easy to build, clearly labeled, and all the parts were accounted for, (a couple extra pieces of some parts but thats never a bad thing).A few things I did not like were:1. batteries are not included (Requires 2 CR2032 coin cell batteries which most people dont have on hand)2. there are two resistors that are placed too close the LEDs and cuases the LEDs to sit slightly crooked instead of flush to the board3. The battery holders are mounted to the back of the board but the issue comes from the holders being above the legs of other parts that have been soldered on the front of the board. This causes the holders to not sit flush and makes soldering the legs difficult so again some force must be exerted to ensure the legs are properly soldered.4. This is a cuase for concern, the gap between the sets of holes for the NE555N chip are wider than the chip and you have to exert some force to position the legs into the wholes. The legs on chips like these are easy to bend but also easy to break off so exercising caution when trying to widen the leg span to fit in the board is advised.Aside from a few dislike this porject is nice and I like how there are ribbons and chains to attach to each ornament. Also the space you place the chain and ribbon through is a perfect fit and the piece of board that is being held up by the chain is good and thick too.

Missing parts
Missing both 555P chips making this kit useless.Edit: Seller contacted me and is sending me a replacement kit. Thanks

Hard on batteries - fun to build
There were 2 ornaments in the package. Solder spacing was easy for a beginner. Instructions were a little rough (poor translation) but pictures filled in the blanks.2 2032 batteries power each ornament. Only a few hours run time.Looks really neat on our tree.
