How long can this product be used, is it easy to be damaged by water?

Water should not hurt it as long as it is not continously submerged for a long time. We have had ours for about a year. It's still lasting. It's fun to throw but not fun to catch. It's kind of hard and heavy for its size and the fins will scratch your hands.
