Matches my Craft Room Perfectly
I had a clock just like this that I got from IKEA years ago so when it finally quit working, I was sad to think I was not going to have my beautiful clock anymore. And then I saw it on Amazon! Exact same clock, exact same color. It arrived in a timely manner, thank goodness. It has a standard alarm which I never use but it’s nice and loud. It has a soft light that you can click on with a button on the back. I wish it were possible to keep the soft light on at all times but you can’t. You have to hold the button down to use the light. The size is perfect for a desktop or night stand though. Plus it’s super easy to use. Came with instructions but I don’t think they’re necessary.

Great remake of a classic
This clock is very simplistic but works exactly like you would expect. It takes only one AA battery to operate, has a button to shine light on the clock at night, and two control knobs: time and alarm. Unlike its classic counterpart, it does not have a "contact" off button- like in the tv shows and movies where the child slams their hand on top of the metal ringing clock. It has a plastic up/down switch that turns the alarm on and off. If this is your first type of alarm clock, you should know that the red dial is the alarm indicator. There is no red minute hand. Rather, that one red dial controls the hour and minute you would like the alarm to go off at. Example: you want to wake up at 7:30. Turn the alarm knob on the back so that the red dial is exactly between the 7 and 8 on the clock. Because that's where the hour hand is on a clock when it is always 7:30. If you ever wonder where the hour hand is at a certain time, just adjust your time knob to the desired time and make a note of the positioning of the hour hand. Then move the red dial to that same position. The other knob controls the current time. That's easy. I have no suggestions on how to adjust that. There is no am/pm indicator, so just adjust it to whatever time it is where you live. This clock is mostly metal and has cheap internals. The dials are not as precise as I would like and sometimes when I move the alarm knob, the current time dial gets moved a little bit (millimeters). There is no battery indicator or warning that the battery may be low. I found out that the light for the clock (when you press the button) is an excellent indicator. It should be very bright. Put a fresh battery in just to see what it should look like optimally. I put a half-used battery in and didn't wake up the next day because the battery was not juiced up enough to make the ringing loud enough. Yes it still rang, but barely noticeable from a deep sleep. Put a fresh battery in and don't take a chance. And keep checking that light strength to see when you may need to replace it soon! Aside from that, the clock is great.

Looks great, will definitely wake you up, and durable!
Old Review from December 2013: ~It looks vintage and just like it does in the picture. It's inexpensive but does a good job in waking me up. It's very loud and wakes up the entire household if it rings for long enough. I used to have trouble waking up on time but not anymore.~ I also uploaded a quick video displaying the physical features of the clock. I would read the updated review below for more clear and detailed information. Updated review November 2015: I bought this alarm clock for $7.88 two years ago. Batteries aren't included, so I did put in one AA battery when I received the clock two years ago. Never had to change the battery either, so a little goes a long way. I've dropped the alarm clock from my nightstand about a dozen times in the two years I've had it, and it's held up fine. However, I recently switched to a college dorm and accidentally kicked my alarm clock down about four feet onto a hard tiled floor. This caused the battery to leak and caused the clock to stop working. Had to throw it away. I was satisfied enough with the clock that I ordered a new one, despite the clock being priced up to a whole $16.90! That's more than double what I paid when I originally bought the clock, so I did knock off a star for that. This is definitely enough to wake a moderate to heavy sleeper up. My roommate hates the alarm, though (as it wakes her up, as well). Because of this, I've been using it only as a backup alarm set ten minutes after my phone alarm. I've used several alarm clocks throughout my life, but this is by far one of the loudest I've used. Traditional alarm clocks are not nearly as loud or irritating as this is, which is a must if you're trying to get up at a certain time and don't want to accidentally sleep through your alarm. Some things to note for the long term: I don't know if I'm crazy, but I feel as if the alarm got a little less loud as time went on, but it was still plenty loud. The backlight grew dimmer and dimmer as time went on too, to the point where, just last month, it didn't work at all. This was probably an indication that the battery needed to be replaced soon. There is also an audible ticking sound with the clock, but I find that soothing rather than annoying. It's not very loud, and I don't notice the sound in the daytime. At night, when everything is still and quiet, it is more obvious. One plus is that there are no lights emitting from this clock, as found in your typical digital alarm clock. One problematic aspect is that the alarm doesn't ring exactly at the exact time you set it for. If you were to set it for 3:30, it may ring a little past three. You can see that more clearly in the video. This doesn't really bother me, and I find that if you set it for an exact time (e.g. nine on the dot), it rings more precisely than when set for an interval in between. I'm not sure why, but this never bothered me. Side note: If you're looking for a less intrusive alarm that can definitely wake you up without sound, there's the Sonic Boom (Amazon link: Sonic Alert SBJ525ss Sonic Bomb Jr., Black/Red ), which shakes your bed very violently to get you up. This is a good option if you share a room and don't want to wake the other person up. Additionally, if the Sharp Analog clock somehow isn't loud enough for you, the Sonic Boom boasts 102db (not sure about the accuracy of this, but I do know it's crazy loud). The Sonic Boom is pricier, so if you're just looking for something simple and loud, I would stick with this Sharp Analog clock. However, if you're the type of heavy sleeper that can sleep through literal fire alarms ringing throughout a dorm hall, for example, buy the Sonic Boom.
