Q: I bought one of these and only the red port works. None of the ohers works at all - do you need specific cables at all?

All the ports should work! The cables you need is USB-A which plug into the adapter.

Double insulated items don't require a metal earth pin. Although something is required, to undo the safety lock on a British 3 pin socket (hence a plastic pin) Look out for the double insulated logo it looks like a square within a square. If you see that, that item doesn't need a metal earth pin.

Dear you, The multi fast charger communicated with the connected device and matched the charging voltage. The QC 3.0 port provides an output of 3.6V-6.5V=3A, 6.5V-9V=2A, 9V-12V=1.5A. The other 3 USB ports provide an output of 5V/3.1A MAX.With fast charging, charging may take place with 12V; regular are 5V. Hope you have found it helpful.
