Q: Good for small squirrels?

These are good for NOTHING! They seemed well built and designed, when I first deployed them , early on the evening, when I got the shipment, the temperature was in the low 70's F. I did catch one rat that night, but after resetting it as the temperature reached about 80 F, they trap would just snap shut , all by itself. So and behold , the other traps, started snapping shut , as it got warmer. These things are absolutely useless, the worst traps I ever purchased. I have purchased hundreds of traps in the last 40 years and these are JUNK! I sent a review to the seller and they never replied, my guess is they would go out of business, if they had to issue refunds.

Q: How many traps in the order/set? Do you need to wear gloves when setup the trap to avoid any human smell on the trap?

There was 6 traps to the set. I did after it caught the mouse because there was blood on the trap and it's like a bear trap in a way. There are teeth that clamp down on the mouse. I have returned my traps because once it caught a mouse the inside piece broke and we could not reset the traps.

Q: Why are the traps not working.

something is wrong with these. the 2018 reviews are all good. but the batch I just got here in June of 2020 have the same problem everyone else is complaining about, the traps go off a few seconds or minutes after they are set.

Q: What bait works best for rats? I was having good luck with peanut butter, but now they lick it off without triggering the trap.

Peanut butter works great for me but it doesnt take much. Dont overfill the bait cup so they cant get it without setting off the trap. Also try a small piece of cheese softened and pressed into the cup.
