Works well. Big hit with grandchild
Bought this for my grandson. He is 6 years old and loves playing with my Lionel trains. This lets him have trains in his bedroom. He also love building Lego projects. He was able to build it all by himself. Highly recommend it.

6 year old birthday gift! It was a hit and he plays with it everyday. We even got him another Lego train set on his 7th birthday! Best gift ever for train and Lego lovers!

Easy instructions and a great product
It was expensive and be sure and order more track...you will want that. My great grandson and I have played with this everyday since he put it together. His cousin had one and it was a great Christmas gift.!!! Every age would enjoy it.

Delightful to build and play with!
Had a great time building this with my 5 year old! He didn't need much help with it, and when it was complete the fun had just begun. The playability is great with the telescopic handler and other accessories. The train is surprisingly fast at top speed (will derail around sharp corners at full speed), and the battery life has been pretty good. I use rechargeable Panasonic AAA batteries for the motor. We recently purchased the Green passenger train as well, and though that is great quality, it doesn't have the same playability for young kids. The one downside may be that you will need to buy additional track pieces. The included small oval of track will be outgrown quickly. I have had good success with off-brand track FWIW

Great set!
My son loved putting each part of the set together and playing with it! He is 8 and did it mostly on his own.

This is a great train for a young boy especially with all the additional options for it from Lego and knock off Lego companies! It is really fast! It does take an insane amount of batteries but soooo worth it for my son, and he is building a whole set of buildings around his track and train! It came with great stuff and went together easily for a 9 year old. There is also an optional lighting kit for this train!
