I will get 2000 pieces in the box, it is my job to figure out which pieces are needed to complete the picture on the box, right?

No, you will get 1000 pieces. the end result has "some" of "items" in it. But NOT like the box! I did go back to the box to look what is in the picture and see what items were the same just by the colors of the pieces. It took me a bit to finish, but I have been out of puzzle mode for a bit. But these are my favorite puzzle of all time! I have done most of them!

In the discription it states this: Plus, you'll always get an extra 1000-piece puzzle featuring the box image for free. Is this true?

I haven't assembled the puzzle, but I have opened the box. There is only one bag of pieces in it. There is only 1 piece of paper in the box with nothing but a hint of where 5 pieces go. I do see on the Jumbo site that some of the Christmas puzzles advertise giving you the box image for free, but it's noted on the box. This puzzle, #1, doesn't have that on it anywhere.

Are these puzzle pieces small? I'm used to doing 1,000 piece puzzles that are approximately 24"x 30 something when complete?

We have a large collection of Wasgij puzzles. All puzzles are 68x49cm which is 26.8"x19.3" when finished. I think it is a standard. The pieces are medium size: not small and not extra large.
