It should, but be aware that you won't be able to use your TTL settings. You can use manual settings, or if your flash is old enough to work in auto matched to a manually set aperture on the lens. Check to make sure the flash doesn't have too high of a trigger voltage for your camera. This hot shoe adapter doesn't regulate the voltage.

Will this work with the Canon Eos R50?

Normally it will fit. But it depends on how old your camera is. An newer camera should work, but an older camera is a hit or miss situation.

It should function as a hot shoe but will not utilize the dedicated Sony (TTL) functions.

I don't know anything about your 160-watt flash. You need to be sure the trigger voltage isn't too high for your camera. This adapter won't protect the camera from high voltage. You will also have to set your camera shutter speed & f-stop manually. The only thing communicated from the camera to the flash is when to fire.
