Is this compatible with the Nuvi 765?

I don't know about a Nuvi 765. It worked perfectly for my Nuvi 2455.

It will work on any vertical or horizontal vents. As far as it working your 2689 give it a try and if it don’t work send it back. If you have that funky round indent on the back of your GPS then it should fit to your mount.

Will the mount tighten on a 16mm ball?

The mount is the ball. It connects to the back of the device.

Will this unit work on 2007 Nissan 350z?

If your vents are flat, and not curved horizontally, it should work. I have no idea if it will actually work or not, because I do not know the measurements of your specific vehicle. I can tell you it's a good product, worth the money. I'm using it on a 2013 Toyota Sequoia.
