Yes. The main compartment can fit an extra set of clothes and accessories and has a separate laptop pocket that fits up to a 16” Macbook.

Would this backpack be good for middle school what material is it made of? (my parents think it will rip immediately)

Yes, it's perfect for Middle School. My daughter is in 8th grade and this has been the only backpack that has held up all year.
