Works perfectly. It only retracts if there is an egg in it. If you try and test it empty, it will not work. I need to pull it 20 times in rapid succession to get the egg scrambled inside.

Instructions are only in Chinese. The pull string would work sometimes and automatically return to the main body. but it never all the time and I frequently have to wind the pull string back to the main body by hand. I tried the 3 eggs at ten different pulls each time. but I never got it to work successfully for any of the eggs. After boiling them I discovered that they did not scramble the egg inside the shell. Do the device never worked enough to produce the Golden egg it was designed and advertised to do. I don’t know if that is my fault or the devices fault. Why? Because if the Chinese instructions say that you have to pull the string at least 20 times to produce a “golden egg”. Then that failure would be my fault because I only pulled it ten times. I rated this product with 1 star because that was the only option. I could not rate it Zero Stars. Even if this device works and makes a golden egg after 20 pulls it’s still not worth the effort of manually have to rewind the pull string.

This thing looks like a toddler's toy, and my first attempt to use it did not scramble the egg. I decided that it was sturdier than it looks and gave the cord a more firm pull. It works by rapidly spinning the egg and then abruptly spinning it in the opposite direction. I think that sudden change is what does the scrambling. Anyway, I gave the cord a good tug, let the spinning egg holder draw the cord back in, then tugged it again, spinning it in the other direction after that sudden change of direction. I repeated this for fully a minute of more (not sure how many "tugs") and when I cracked the egg the contents looked like well mixed orange juice - totally scrambled! I sometimes use a microwave egg cooker that can take an egg and cook it into a fried egg disc, similar to the famous Egg Macmuffin. My wife prefers a scrambled egg, so with this egg scrambling gizmo, I can scramble a single egg to cook for her and just make a fried egg or two separately for me. Everyone is happy! And what's not to like about a funny-looking thing like this made by a company called "Nobgum"?
