Sto working after 1 month
I ordered this item on 22/06/2023 if I remember correctly, and all of a sudden stopped working. I believe is the power supply but not sure. Contacted the seller and he sent me another power supply and is working fine

AV1 support? Well maybe the hardware has it, but the software isn't using it
NOTE: This review has been updated after contact with the seller. I originally gave it two stars and have changed it to four. Two stars:The box comes with Android 11. KODI reports it as a S905X4 chipset (as advertised). That's good as that chipset comes with hardware to decode AV1 encoded content.I'm not, however, sure this box is worth the added price tag over some of the cheaper ones. It will play 4K HDR content, but I've tried it on AV1 encoded content and it runs at seconds per frame, rather than frames per second. The software doesn't appear to be making use of the hardware of the S905X4.Apart from this it seems like a decent media box... but the extra cost over cheaper boxes is wasted unless it actually delivers on that extra - like playing hardware accelerated AV1.Four stars:The seller contacted me to say they had passed by comment about AV1 onto the manufacturer. Hopefully they will provide a software update. Also note: This box has a 64bit ARM chip in it, which is running Android 11 in 32 bit mode. At least according to CPU-Z.The seller offered to send a remote keypad in addition to passing along my comments about the AV1 support. So their customer support and responsiveness is good.My original comment remains valid. You can get much cheaper boxes that will play 4k HDR content based on older chipsets. So if that's your requirement, then you'd be better off with one of those. If you need to playback AV1 encoded content, then until this box is updated it's not a good choice. However, this is a decent media player. It's responsive and has Android 11.So it's really down to what you need as user. Hopefully there will be updates to allow the AV1 decoding hardware in the device to actually be used.

Mis-selling due to wrongful description of the unit.
Customers are being misled by the sellers of this unit. All over Amazon the box is advertised as 1000 Lan but it is only 10/100. I have gigabit broadband, and my TV is an 8K LG which has a 1000 RJ45. Why would anyone want to add a box that does not match the speed of the Internet and TV. The fact that items being wrongly described on Amazon creates ill will. Sellers should note that buyers will only spend where they know what they are going to get, and get what they know they want. The same thing is happening if you buy from the country of origin, especially with these Android boxes. The operating systems are often old and outdated and you will find there is no way of upgrading to a newer Android version. The unit I received dates back to 2022 that is when the software was released, these things have been made in the millions and sellers are so desperate to move them that they give out false information to aid in selling them. It is an un-fair practice.

Would recommend.
This was bought as a gift for my dad who wanted more than 1-5 channels in his summer house. This absolutely did the trick, great playback capability and great value for money. Really easy to use and has a superb picture quality.

Rubbish wifi
I was attracted to this item by the price and the Amlogic chipset. However, when I started streaming, I was getting some buffering or no stream from a variety of sources. When I checked the wifi speed, the performance was poor. In the same room I tried a phone, a PC, a tablet and the 5 year old streaming box I was looking to replace. All reached the maximum of 32 Mb/s.Using the same speed checker, whatever I tried the X96 Max Plus Ultra struggled to get to 10Mb/s, it was mostly around 8 Mb/s.It's being returned. Not recommended.

Not quite what I thought I was getting.
This is sold as an 8k streamer, yet even though connected to an 8k TV, when using kodi the only resolution accessible was 1080p.I was also getting slight lockups during playback. I am using all cables designated for hdmi 2.1/8k compatible, and tried via wifi and wired ethernet. Therefore, returned unit for a refund. It is possible that it may require a firmware update, but I tried that too and none was available.I then purchased a half price fire tv cube during prime sales, which when checking resolutions available in kodi, straightaway had a long list all the way upto 4k resolution. Therefore, will continue looking for a true 8k streamer in the future.
