I experimented with a different approach.The eggs cooked fine by punching a hole in the top but some batches came out with cooked egg extruding out the hole.I thought, I don't put a hole in eggs when I cook them on the stove in a pot of water so why do it with these cookers? Well, it worked great.No "eggsplosion" with this approach. Bon Appetit!

Works great. Add water, eggs, Press the button and shuts off on its own. You don’t need to poke the eggs. Use the full cup of water for a well done hard boiled egg. The egg shells peel nicely after.

I just love using the little cocker it is very easy to use and clean!

I will continue to use this product for convenience and learn via trial and error, but it would be nice if the directions were more clear.

First, it is actually quite small and attractive. So, ignore the photos.Second, I am a bit of a prima donna about my eggs... so I am used to a couple of steps for achieving perfect eggs. These steps may or may not suit you, and should inform your decision to get this or not.If you want the shells to come off easily - every time - and you want the yolks to be yellow, without any gray - then the best thing to do is have a bowl of water in the fridge (set it in there the night before). AS SOON AS the eggs are done, take a pair of tongs and put the eggs into the chilled water. Put the bowl of chillin' eggs back in the fridge. When you get back from the pool or golf course, take the eggs out of the water and put them into a dry bowl (or back in the carton, or into an egg tray &tc.So far, you might be thinking this is all pretty reasonable. There's just one more catch. THIS UNIT HAS NO BELL TO LET YOU KNOW WHEN IT IS FINISHED!! This is actually no big deal, because you and I want perfect eggs. And to get perfect eggs, you set a timer. I set my phone timer to 5:45 (five minutes, forty-five seconds). When the alarm goes off - the eggs go to their waiting ice bath.If you don't use a timer, you would have to stare at the 'on' light until it goes out. Not my idea of fun. Alternatively, you just wander back to the unit whenever the mood strikes you... but you will probably be greeted by seriously overdone eggs.The unit is all stainless steel - so cleaning is a breeze. Since water sits right on the hot-plate base, the hot-plate surface gets a bit discolored during cooking. This mostly comes off the same way they clean the grill surface at a hibachi steak house: damp cloth. Since it is stainless, anything that doesn't come right off can be removed with a scratchy pad.I usually cook 7 at a time, but I have cooked as few as 2... all with great success.The manufacturer should put an alarm on this unit... it is a ridiculous oversight since it would cost pennies. Still, I love not having to deal with setting up a steamer on the stove.

This egg cooker really does a nice job making all sorts of boiled eggs with minimal effort, there are a few things that should be noted though - and I’m sure other reviewers have done so, but I’ll add my $.02…The timer works great, but it really needs an audible chime or bell or something. If you’re running this in a silent room, you absolutely can hear it finish as there’s an audible shut-off click… but no chime or bell - it could really use this feature.The other gripe I have with this unit is cleaning, the removable parts are dishwasher-safe which is great, but the base itself gets discolored and stained from water and whatever’s on the outside of the eggs that steams-off while cooking. Cleaning the base is possible, but users need to be careful not to get the electronics wet since it’s not sealed against water. Also, you really need to scrub the base to get it clean, which isn’t easy since it has to be kept dry.Other than that, this little contraption works really well.

What a brilliant little device. So easy to use. Eggs turn out perfect every time. Love it!

I bought this egg cooker for my parents.They eat steamed eggs everyday. I am happy that it is very useful.

It’s a beautiful appliance and works a treat. This is my first egg boiler so very impressed. Poached eggs need half the time given in the instructions so need to play around with the timings. They also stick to the stainless steel dish even though I smear with butter but that’s ok. I might try lining it with greasepeoof paper. It’s worth it.

Looks great 2 works a treat but take care with the egg cut out metal plate that the eggs sit on. I’m nursing a seriously deep cut after holding the back of the plate to wash it. It is razor sharp so take care. Other than this it works a treat. Follow the instructions you can’t go wrong for perfect soft, hard or poached eggs.

eggs stick like glue

My brother brought this, I thought he was being a bit extravegent at first but I used it and was amazed at the result, I had previously cooked and boiled eggs in a pan but this machine is not what you expect. The eggs are complimented with this machine, the egg white is soft and the yolk perfect every time. you can leave the machine and push the button and the eggs will be perfect every time, I would highly recommend this product it also makes egg custard I have not made this yet, but it is used all the time!
