Cut perfectly and as well-made as my 43-year-old matching cooking knife set!
Love them. They cut through meat (and fruit) to perfection. As well-made and perfectly match my Four Star cooking knife set that I got 43 years ago!

Excellent product
I have had my set for forty years. I took them to have them professionally sharpened and they broke one. It was replaced with no.problem due to they are guaranteed for life. I bought both my son's sets 20 years ago. I highly reccomend Zwilling/henkels knives.

Like a hot Knife Through Butter
We have owned the J.A. Henckels 4-star knife set for many years, but have always relied on cheap steak knives to use during dinner. I finally decided to bite the bullet and order 2 sets of 4-star steak knives to go along with our set. We received one set today and I decided that in celebration of receiving one of the two sets, we would have steak for dinner tonight. I was a little apprehensive since I've never used a non-serrated knife to cut a steak. I figured that was the standard. But more on that later. I subscribe to the Alton Brown/Emeril/Every other chef in the world theory on cooking steak - room temperature steak, salt, and pepper. That goes into a seasoned cast iron skillet heated to 400 degrees and set on a burner on high to sear the outside, then back in the oven to finish the inside. So, the steaks always come out really juicy and tender.... Back to dinner... After cooking the steaks, letting them rest, then plating them my fiancee and I were completely surprised by how well the knives cut through the steak. It was seriously like a hot knife through butter. As I said earlier, I have always used a serrated knife for steak, but these knives cut through the steak better and with more ease than any knife I have ever used. I am really happy with my purchase. In response to the other reviewers that had QC issues, I don't know what to tell you, I have owned 4-star knives by J.A. Henckels for over 15 years and have never had a problem like you describe. The only thing I could assume is that you washed them in the dishwasher or you got a defect... It happens, no company is ever perfect. But I wouldn't let that deter me from continuing to use their knives, especially if they replaced it.

Great addition to my original “Four Star” set…
Great addition to my original “Zwilling Four Star” set. I was using serrated steak knives for years so bought some cheaper Henkels Statement knives to add to my set about 6 months ago. They seemed to work ok but couldn’t get past the way they were tearing the meat. I decided to bite the bullet and get these Four Star steak knives to match my original set that I’ve had for 30 years. My only regret is that I waited so long as these cut like a hot knife through butter and “cleanly” (no more tearing). My only issue, if you could call it an issue, is that the handles are a little thinner than my others in the set.

Good but expensive
These knives are made of the same high quality hardened stainless steel use on all Henckels premium knives. Since there are usually used on hard porcelin, stoneware or other china plates, they keep their edge very well. I do not sharpen these knives as often as our other Henckels kitchen knives because they do not need to be quite as sharp for dining. I recently bought this set for my daughter who was spoiled using these knives during all the years she lived with us. Now that she is married and on her own, she requested these for Christmas. The knives are well made and like ours, should last the better part of a lifetime.

Small and Unimpressive
These are quite small knifes. Feel light and flimsy in your hand. I returned them but Amazon said never received at the UPS store. Clerk did not give me a receipt so I was out of luck.

These are nice steak knives. Unfortunately, one of the knives wasn't straight - it has a little curve at the tip. We use them all the time.

These knives are excellent and round out my collection of 4-Star Zwilliling J.A. Henckels Knives which I started to purchase in 1976 in Munchen. Great knives!

Die 4 Steakmesser der Vier Sterne Serie sind wie die andern Messern der Serie hervorragend verarbeitet. Sie kommen in einer Klarsicht(geschenk)verpackung an. Um optimale Schärfe und Gewichtsverteilung zu erreichen ist die Messerschneide der Steakmesser recht dünn geschliffen und dadurch auch sehr biegsam. Die Schärfe ab Werk ist rasiermesserartig. Griff und Klinge kann man als aus einem Guss" bezeichnen. Keine Spalten, keine unsauberen Übergänge zwischen Metall und Kunststoff. Der schwarze Kunststoff ist glatt und ohne Macken. Die Grifflänge könnte als Essmesser für große Hände etwa 10mm länger sein. Der Stahl Friodur weist eine hohe Härte bei sehr guter Elastizität auf. Dies bedeutet, dass die Klinge sehr flexibel ist und trotzdem aufgrund der Härte die Schärfe lange hält. Gehen Sie aber davon aus, die Messer öfter nachschärfen zu müssen, da sicher nicht immer das Steak vom Holzbrett gegessen wird. Das Schärfen ist für viele eine Wissenschaft für sich. Hier reicht es vom Wetzstahl über Ölstein bis hin zur Maschine. Ich habe mich vor vielen Jahren für den Graef Messerschärfer CC 120 entschieden und erhalte hier schnell die gewohnte rasiermesserartige Schärfe bei den Kochmessern. Der Stahl ist zwar rostfrei und spülmaschinenfest. Die Messer sollten aber wie alle hochwertigen scharfen Messer handgespült werden. Nach 25 Jahren (Vier Sterne Kochmesser) habe ich keine Materialfehler festgestellt. Neben der Vier Sterne Messer-Serie gibt es von Zwilling auch die Steakmesser der Four Star II Messer-Serie. Die Four Star II Steakmesser sind, abgesehen von einer kleinen Metallplatte am Ende des Griffes, völlig baugleich zum Vier Sterne Steakmesser, aber ca. 25% teurer. Sie sollten sie sich aber anschauen, da die Four Star II Steakmesser bei Tisch aufgrund der Applikation etwas edler wirken. Außerdem liegen die Four Star II Steakmesser etwas ausgewogener in der Hand, da der Griff durch die Metallplatte schwerer ist. Ich habe die Vier Sterne Steakmesser umgetauscht gegen das Four Star II Steakmesserset. Der Grund war, dass die Steakmesser im Messerblock sofort erkennbar sind und sich so von den Vier Sterne Kochmessern abheben. Fazit: ++ sehr gut verarbeitet ++ rasiermesserscharf ++ harter, elastischer Stahl ++ sehr gute Schnitthaltigkeit o Griff könnte für große Hände etwas länger sein
