Excellent "Go for Dummies" book. Good illustrations and descriptions.

This was a good book to begin to get a handle on playing the game. It encourages thinking about strategy first, but it does include samples of play which are easy to understand. The book is a little bit above the patience level of a ten year old, but easily read. So if you're giving this to a child, make sure you plan to spend some time reading and discussing.

Picked this up with a board to teach the kids the game. Perfect for the job.

I'm a fairly new Go player, still double digit kyu, and I've read both this and Kageyama's Lessons in the Fundamentals of Go (the yellow book). I believe this is a much better book for a beginner to start with. This book gives you everything you need to start playing Go, with some great insights on shapes and strategies that you'll use forever as a Go player. The book is laid out well and covers many important topics. It also contains several examples and problems for you to work out that will certainly help raise your skill level. I'd definitely recommend this as a first book for any new Go player before moving on to something more in-depth, like Kageyama's yellow book.

Used book . Book is for beginners. Looks potentially helpful

With somethings, like old games that are still played, you don't need the "newest" book out there. In fact, I think this is probably the best "beginner" book in existence (at least for English speaking audiences). Simple, clear, and very helpful. Read this first if you are thinking of picking up the game of Go.

I feel like I’ve gone back to antiquity. I love old books written hundreds of years ago but most importantly I love the game of Go which came into existence thousands of years ago

The book is too high priced for its quality and contents of page . the paper quality is very ordinary . over all not good for the price /money it tagged.

As a new addition to the GO world, I would say that this is an excellent book to start with. Very easy to understand with a logical progression for rules and play. I have read it twice already and will definitely read it multiple more times to understand the game better.
