Dora Goes to the Doctor/Dora Goes to the Dentist (Dora the Explorer) (Pictureback) Paperback – Picture Book, July 23, 2013

I am an Early Intervention teacher working with young children with delays or disabilities. This book is wonderful to help prepare young children for what to expect when they visit the doctor's or dentist's office. I work with many autistic toddlers, and this is very helpful for them especially to know what to expect (also known as a "social story"). I used it with my own son when he was small, and now I recommend it for many of the families I work with. I recommend using similar language to the book's when talking about the doctor's or dentist's office, and then while visiting the doctor/dentist office for full impact. Wonderful book overall!

Good book for toddlers who are scared to go to dentist or doctor. Very educated book .

I never write reviews unless I purchase an item that really deserves a review. This book has been fantastic. I purchased this to help my two year old understand why we visit the doctor and dentist.He was really scared at his first dental visit. He screamed and cried the entire time. I saw a significant difference in his comfort level and level of understanding after reading this book to him. He was completely at ease while they cleaned his teeth during his recent dental visit. He didn’t cry and named the objects as they cleaned his teeth.He used to cry the second we walked into the pediatrician’s office but the last visit was great.My only compliant about this product is that the pages completely fell out of the binding.I definitely recommend this book for toddlers.

We read it every night sense we got it. My daughter is 3.

You get 2 books for 1. My daughter doesn't mind that one book ends on the same spread as the other one as well. I think with a simple page break in the middle to signify the end wouldn't make the book feel so weird. I like the idea of 2 books in 1, I just wish they didn't try to save pages which almost makes the book feel like it was printed wrong. STILL, my daughter loves Dora so we do enjoy reading it.

The kids love reviewing Dora's experiences before going to the doctor and dentist. What a great way to set expectations and prepare children for appointments with doctors.

I bought this book for my two year old daughter in order to prep for her first dentist visit. It worked perfectly. We read it each night for a week leading up to her dentist visit. I then brought it with us to the dentist so we could compare the pictures in the book to the real office. The best part is is that there are stickers she got as a reward after the dentist visit! Highly recommend! (Would work for the doctor too since the flip side is about Dora going to the doctor!).

These books helped out 2-year-old feel more comfortable at the doctor. Next up: the dentist!
