Q: The top two photos show two different units. Whats up with that?

Not sure why it's listed like that but the unit I received is the one with the orange power button.

No, I looked at my unit and did not see any indication that this device is UL certified.

Q: Do you have a wiring schematic of this exact unit?

User's manual details individual, serial and parallel operation, and 5v supply. No internal info, or schematics, comes with the unit.

Q: Why 2 switches for independent/series/parallel. How can one channel be in series with the other, but not visa versa?

There's 3 settings. Independent, series, and parallel. They used two switches in three positions (both up, both down, one up) to set the mode. They could have used a three position switch instead.
