A replacement for a Garage Opener, with a higher Microfarad (Capacitance) Rating.
Generally Electrolytic Capacitors like these are used to assist medium to large Electrical Motors in starting. These capacitors lose capacitance as they age in use. Eventually they fail to provide enough energy to start their motors. A simple test for non-functioning Garage Openers (with an associated Light) is turn on the light, before trying to activate the Opener. If the Light dims when activating the door opener and after a short time period, re-brightens, its most likely indicating the associated Starting Capacitor needs replacing; i.e. the motor continues to draw current, until an overload cut off the circuit, due to the motor NOT starting. I found it impossible to find a current day physical sized capacitor for an identical replace; i.e. the newer ones being too large to fit in the opener. This appears to due to the current capacities being rated at 450 VAC, compared with my old circa 2005 capacitor being rated at only ~240 VAC. Hopefully the newer higher voltage rating will mean the capacitors will last longer. I could not use this specific capacitor because is was too large, but ended up with a 30 uF 450 volt capacitor. Keep in mind the designers specify much higher capacitance rating, than required, to allow for the aging drop off of capacitance.

Warning - blew up after just 4 days
It blew up after just 4 days of use. Buy anything else. I previously purchased one two years ago, and it failed.

Exploded violently after three hours running
Used to replace a run capacitor in our marine air conditioner. All specifications match the original capacitor. Ran for three hours and exploded. A defective unit. Returned for refund. Hope the explosion didn’t do any damage to the other control box components. Would give no stars if that was an option.

chinese junk
I would not order this again...lasted 1 year and of course blew on the hottest day of the year so far
