EDIT #2: I wrote my previous edit a over a month ago, and I am once again upping my rating, this time to the full five stars. After using the first ball in my laundry closet for 60 days I replaced it, but just out of curiosity I placed the "expired" ball in a small drawer where I keep my dog's harness. I wanted to see how well it would work, and I was surprised to find that it continued masking odors for another month before I finally noticed the effect wearing off. So while A&H says to replace these every 2 months, it seems that you can safely bump it up to 3 and still get good results. That really increases the value of these things, and overall I'm just really impressed with this product. I would definitely say that these are on the same high level as other A&H products, and up to 9 months of odor elimination for $6 is a steal in my opinion. Definitely glad I stuck with these, and I can now highly recommend them. EDIT: I'm upping my rating from three stars to four. I still think that these could be stronger, and I generally expect more from A&H products. But I originally wrote this review a few weeks ago, and I've had one of these balls sitting inside of my laundry closet the entire time. It's a small closet, but it houses my dirty laundry hamper so it always smells pretty funky in there. To my surprise, I've noticed that the entirety of the closet now smells noticeably better and cleaner than it ever has before. One odor ball does a good job of masking the dirty/sweaty smells, not just near the hamper, but throughout the entire closet as well, even the very top. It doesn't neutralize the bad odors entirely or anything, but it is doing a better job than I initially gave it credit for, and I would much rather have these than not. ORIGINAL REVIEW: These do work, but I just wish they were better. Maybe my expectations were too high, since I'm a fan of A&H products. But I thought these would eliminate odor more than they actually do. They work best in really small/confined spaces (cabinets/gym bags/laundry hampers/etc) but even then, the odor elimination isn't as powerful as I hoped it would be. The bad odors still remain, though they are definitely subdued. These barely do anything in larger spaces though (closets/etc) which is very disappointing. I don't expect miracles but I did expect them to help a *little* in an extremely small apartment closet, which they don't. The balls themselves have a strong, chemical-y scent, which I personally like, but it definitely made me grimace when I first smelled it up close. But if anything, I guess I wish they were even stronger - maybe then they would do a better job of truly eliminating odors. I think these are still fine and worth the price (each ball is $2 and lasts for 2 months which is a pretty solid value) but don't expect to use them for anything larger than a duffel bag.

Small but powerful and cute! Added these to each of our closets and they have a pleasant but not overpowering scent. They are sturdy in small balls. There has been no leakage or stickiness. For the price, these are a great value to use in any room of the house to help eliminate odors.

Hard to say if they’re doing anything. I keep these in my shoe storage shelf. They don’t really output much fragrance, but I also don’t really smell the shoes either so I guess it’s working? I only put four stars because I was hoping they would be more fragrant.

I bought these not expecting much due to other reviews. Put one in the entryway of my home, one in a linen closet, and one in an older car that has been sitting a while. Improved all three areas, even the entryway and I can smell the fresh scent upon entering the house. The car that had a bit of a smell now smells much better. Took about a week to notice the difference but happy with the product and will buy again.

I placed one in my car because I have a big dog. The initial scent for the first few days reminded me of dryer sheets. The scent dissipated, but it continued to neutralize odor. Doesn’t last 60 days by far (maybe 45 days). I hate the plastic waste, though. I wish the little plastic balls are refillable with new baking soda.

I borrowed my husband’s car which has a cover on it. It had rained the night before and I didn’t think twice about tossing the damp cover into the trunk. Big mistake. Two days later the car smelled absolutely horrendous — like straight mildew — and even with the windows open, the smell just wouldn’t go away. I threw one of these little balls in the trunk and within an hour the odor was gone. Now it smells fresh and clean, almost like laundry. I couldn’t believe it. I used the other two next to my cat’s litter box and in my shoe closet — both problem areas — and the smells are gone there too. Small but mighty. Highly recommend!

I received these on 03-23. I used one on a gallon zip lock bag with a real leather wallet until 03-26. It got rid of the majority of the medication/chemical smell. These balls are very strong scented and not that pleasant but better than what my used wallet smelled like.

This terrible thing emits a strong smell that leached into all the food in my freezer and fridge destroying them and making them inedible. I had to throw away an entire fridge of food and am still having trouble removing the smell. Threw all the stupid balls away in the trash and felt compelled to warn others against this toxic product.

My teenage son plays basketball 5-7 days a week and we use the Arm & Hammer Odor Busterz Balls in his shoes, his backpack after every practice and game, and even in his laundry bag when he travels. They absorb sweat, eliminate that dreaded "athlete smell" and leave everything feeling fresh. Yes, they may smell a little strong when you first open the package, but that fades fast and leaves a nice, fresh scent. Just give them a little shake once in a while to keep them working for you.
