The Wait: A Powerful Practice for Finding the Love of Your Life and the Life You Love [Franklin, DeVon, Good, Meagan, Vandehey, Tim] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Wait: A Powerful Practice for Finding the Love of Your Life and the Life You Love Review: This book was such a blessing! Hands down! - This book was such a blessing! Hands down! As a believer who has struggled over the years with how to effectively remain abstinent, I believe that I purchased it at the perfect time in my life. I had finally made a decision to take my life back and seek peace, which led to ending my relationship with my ex-fiancé, who I am sure now really was not God's best for my life. It was not until I said, "this is not what God wants for me, I deserve better" that I was able to go through the process of humbling myself and facing my mistakes head on. I allowed God to transform my mind by fasting and praying, even 21 days. (YES, it was that serious for me, lol) I had to break that soul tie with him by any means necessary LOL. "The Wait" was one of many books and sermons i came across and used to gain new information that healed me from the damage caused in my prior relationship and my old mindset that attracted it. I really appreciate Devon and Megan because their testimony challenges us believers to search our own hearts for whether we practice what we preach. This type of example is SOOO needed for the body of Christ. We need to see that more people are foregoing the world's way and adhering to the voice of the Holy Spirit for God's best in all areas of our lives. This book gave me encouragement through practical examples to keep waiting and also how to date wisely while waiting on God. Moving in WISDOM is implicit in this book, The Wait. I have read some reviews that said that it basically only outlined what we already know about abstinence and that it really is not helpful to those more mature in their walk, but I beg to differ. I have been a born-again bible-loving Christian for the past 10 years and I did not realize how prideful I was until I asked God to reveal parts of me that is not like Him. By humbling myself and accepting that it is not how long I claim to be a Christian, but how I renew my mind each day to stay obedient to His Word & Will, that I truly can appreciate the jewels in Devon and Megan's testimony. They helped demystify this walk by being so transparent and showing us that anything is possible when we trust that when we live in God's Will, and have a heart for God, that we will discover a Loving Father who desires the best for all of His Children in all areas of their life. Since His Word does not return void, He always fulfills His promises. Great read!! Review: ... for almost 5 years now and while I feel like this book is a good instructional guide on celibacy ... - I've been abstaining for almost 5 years now and while I feel like this book is a good instructional guide on celibacy it's also very honest. While sharing their own romance Megan and DeVon really expose what it takes to become not just a better person but ultimately the person God designed you to be in order for him to bless you. I think I finished this book in roughly 2-3 days. I wasn't attempting to speed read but I really enjoyed it. I also really found a side of Megan Good I didn't know existed. She seems very raw in her accounts and like a real woman versus what she's portrayed as in hollywood. I feel as though I greatly misjudged her. The Wait is very much about doing things the opposite way of everybody else in order to be your happiest self. We really do live in a society that doesn't value patience and that's reflected in everything from fast food to on demand programming. My decision to be celibate came later but was based on a decision that I wanted to be closer to God and better myself. I feel like this book is for anyone who's looking for inspiration or tips. Also someone who's celibate already and needs a push or more of a reason to draw closer to God and Jesus Christ. If two people working in the world can find each other and find love while operating through Christ and God's timing, why can't any of us? Aside from a typo I noticed while reading this is a pretty solid book and was very enjoyable. One con though: There's mention of masturbation is a section called Taking Care of Business. DeVon states that masturbation is a gray area topic in the bible. As I was reading this I remembered a section of the bible that addressed it but couldn't remember where it was. With some googling here it is. Then Judah said to Onan, "Go in to your brother's wife, and perform your duty as a brother-in-law to her, and raise up offspring for your brother." Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so when he went in to his brother's wife, he wasted his seed on the ground in order not to give offspring to his brother. But what he did was displeasing in the sight of the LORD; so He took his life also.… While the passage doesn''t specifically mention masturbation wasted seed is displeasing to God. When we masturbate (especially men) that leads to wasted semen. I'm not trying to nitpick. I just remembered I had read it and thought I should mention it. Also, there's no mention of spirit wives or husbands (another Christian belief that has to do with your sexual practices opening doors to sexual demons like the incubus or succubus. (They attach themselves to you every time you have premarital sex with someone and you become married in the spirit world. Masturbation is one of them. ) Aside from mentioning these things the book is definitely worth reading.

Powerful and transformative to say the very least. Ever since I watched a video of DeVon and Meagan a few months back my mind has been constantly wanting to purchase this book. When I finally did I wasn't disappointed. I've learnt a lot from this book and will make changes to my life going forward from the things DeVon and Meagan have shared in their book. It's a wonderful, interesting read with so much sense and compassion laden within its lines. This is a must purchase for anyone who wants to move forward not only in relationships but in every aspect of their life.

This book is very practical. The authors carefully crafted this book in a way that it describes what the dating scene is like now, what challenges we may face during "The Wait", and how to overcome the obstacles. It didn't just focus on sex as the waiting period but looking into yourself. It takes a mature person to look inward, which most people don't like to do...If you are one of those people, then this book isn't going to help you.

From their high visible position in Hollywood business - DeVon is a pastor and film maker/producer and his wife is a beautiful actress - they chose to live out their belief in sexual purity, with much realism and awareness and without any holier-than-thou attitude. Very rare approach! They decided to practice "celibacy" until marriage even before they got together, but only to be able to receive the blessings attached to taken God's law seriously. The book is very, extremely honest and clear, sharing their combined experience and how it all turned out. Not superficial or taken for granted. Better than a strong movie!
