From the photos, I was thinking that the magnetic head was larger (it's about 3 inches), but it picked up a lot of roofing nails that were left over after I tore off the shingles on my garage. I would hear a clicking noise as I would sweep it across my grass and it would find nails that I couldn't see. It even found the remains of old nails when the garage was done about 25 years ago. Very impressive!

We initially purchase this for use in our fire pit as some of the wood we have burned has had nails or staples in it. It seems to work great though due to its small surface area, it fills up quickly with staples and nails and these have to be removed frequently to be able to grab onto any more. Otherwise it is sturdy and easy to use

I read all the reviews because I've seen multiple items that pick up metal like the ones that roll or whatever and I have to agree that this is an amazing product because of the fact that it has a release pull on the handle so that you're not sitting there at the end manually pulling off nails and screws and other things from a strong magnet I highly recommend it I also found it interesting that a lot of the reviews had to do with people cleaning up their yard after a roofing company was there I think that roofing companies need to be made to buy one of these objects and clean up people's damn yards because of roof is expensive and nobody needs holes no tires or stepping on nails it's amazing how many people have the same problem and it was all due to roofers anyway off topic there just thought it was interesting this is a good product It was easy to use it worked well and I can't express how happy I am about the future where it releases the objects from the magnet without me having to do it manually so I love it

I have no complaints about this telescopic magnet — it works exactly as expected. I bought it mainly to pick up BBs and various nails or screws, and it does the job well. Not as strong as expected - it's great for what it is - a magnet on a stick, but still has to be less than about an inch of anything metal to attract to it or pull it. I was expecting a very strong rare earth type of magnetism, but this is just so-so, so I'm still looking for a really good one.

Received with plastic coverjng the magnet broken, magnet seems strong but cannot left heavey objects as mentioned. Returned and waiting for refund
