Nightmare on Elm Street Collection

Was in a classic horror movie binge and wanted to watch all of the Nightmare On Elm Street movies. This has all of Wes Craven's nightmare movies. Love these movies. Nothing compares to them today.

With Halloween coming up, I wanted to binge watch Freddy with my teenager. We were able to spend some quality time together, while he talked about the progression of graphics (game design major🤷🏻‍♀️). Great movies and worked perfectly!

The customer review section here can be confusing because all the reviews for different versions of items are lumped together. I am posting this to clarify the difference between the two "Nightmare on Elm Street Collection" DVD box sets available here. The first "Nightmare on Elm Street Collection" box set was issued in 1999 as part of the "New Line Platinum Series." It houses all the films in double sized DVD boxes and takes up quite a bit of shelf space. The cover has a close up of Freddy Krueger and his glove and the legend "New Line Platinum Series" is at the top. It does not include "Freddy vs. Jason" (which had not been filmed yet) but includes an eighth disc with bonus materials, including interviews with cast and crew, rare footage, music videos, press kit materials and all seven trailers. It also includes DVD-ROM content and a commemorative booklet. In 2010, this box was reissued as a budget item in a slim box. The discs come in one double sized DVD box with multiple pages and it is housed in a nice slip cover box. The cover has a silhouette of Freddy Krueger and adds the legend "8 DISCS/MOVIES." All the discs are plain, silver discs with just the titles on and there is no booklet included. This box includes "Freddy vs. Jason" and no bonus disc, although several of the films include commentary tracks. Of course I found all of this out after I had made my purchase. Because the reviews did not specify that there were two editions, I thought I was ordering the 1999 box, but what I was getting was the 2010 budget reissue. If you want to buy the "New Line Platinum" edition, it is available here, but you have to search for it specifically. Still, I had never owned any of the "Nightmare" films before, despite having grown up with them, and after seeing the great documentary "Never Sleeps Again," I really wanted to own all of them. While this 2010 box definitely has the feel of a budget item and I wish it had included the bonus disc and booklet, it is still a great, no frills box set for the more casual fan and the price I paid was unbeatable.
