I am wanting to line a drawer to place serving pieces in. Will this cloth need to cover my silver, or will it be fine just sitting on cloth?

Hi Michelle,From my experience the silver pieces should be covered with the cloth - I lined the drawer then attached a cover to the back of drawer which I drape over. For difficult pieces I have made little bags/pockets and this is very successful. If you live in marine environment or use gas for heating/cooking you silver will tarnish very quickly so needs to be stored when not in useGood luck

Is it necessary to wrap your items in this cloth? I was thinking of just using it as a liner in my jewelry drawers.

I think using as a liner for a drawer of silver jewelry would be fine, but I don't know how the cloth affects other metals or gems such as pearls.

Can this cloth be sewn to make bags?

Remember that as long as the cloth is exposed to air it will need to be "working". So, the best approach would be to create an environment where the cloth could treat the air in an enclosed space. I have done this by making the bags with the cloth and then placing them in zip-like sealed bags to limit the air circulation.

what chemical(s) is used to prevent the tarnishing?

I really don't know what is used in this silver cloth. It does work well.
