As advertised
Worked as advertised. It worked better after the sun had warmed the siding.

Better with 2 than just 1
Needed to remove some vinyl siding temporarily to access some areas below roof where unwanted guests (i.e., squirrels) were beginning to nest. These tools were helpful, but it took a lot of effort to get the hooks on these tools to grab an edge and permit the vinyl pieces to be pulled apart. Using 2 at once helped in the harder-to-reach and tighter-fitting areas, but still required tremendous maneuvering and muscling to insert the tool and angle it correctly to latch onto the edge of a piece of vinyl siding. The extra length on these tools helped, but the problem with the tool's design seemed to be too little lip in the hook. The good thing about the tool's design is that it is strong, and withstood (without bending or breaking) all of the significant stressing applied to each.

Handyman Earl
I needed something to be able to install rope lights around my above ground pool. This siding tool is perfect for getting underneath the plastic lids that cover the screws on the pool. Very sturdy and isn’t bulky.

Didn't Work For Me
I'm generally pretty handy, but I couldn't make this work. It didn't seem to want to fit into the joint far enough to unhook the siding. I pushed hard enough to bend the tool at the larger elbow. Then it was weak and continued to bend when I tried to use it. 75F, 23 year old siding.

This is quite a sturdy and well-made tool and was cheaper than running out to my local big box store, especially when I consider the price of gas and my travel time. I found the tool super helpful for attaching two pieces of siding together. When you're installing a whole wall from the ground up that's not a problem, but when you're replacing a piece in the middle you need something to deform cleat on the upper piece so it engages on to the lower piece. This tool did that masterfully. What this tool didn't do for me was help me easily remove a piece from the center of the wall. I just couldn't force it between the two pieces like I could see on YouTube. With my siding being 25 years old I wasn't going to force it super hard either--didn't need anything cracking on me. If you move over to edge of a piece of siding (which might be really far from the place you really need to unzip) the tool does seem to work better because you can get it up under the notches in the cleats. However, that isn't what I saw people doing on YouTube. So was I doing it wrong? Was YouTube overly simplistic? Is the tool not the best for the job? I don't really know. However, I did get it to work and it was invaluable for zipping the pieces back together. I needed it. Glad I bought it.

Works great and nice edition to the tool box for the handyman or installer.

This is a useful tool if you ever have to install, remove or repair vinyl siding. It makes it easy to unclip or re-clip lengths of vinyl siding. It saves a lot of frustration over trying to use a flat screwdriver or putty knife to do the job. I would say this item spends 95% of its time sitting in the tool bag, but I am glad it is around on those times when the wind has pulled a section of vinyl siding loose.

I liked the tool. It is solid as it says and long handle helps. I was impressed with the grip of this tool.

I suppose I should clarify that the tool seems durable and well made , we just can’t seem to make it work to repair two pieces of siding which have popped out on the house . Perhaps when the siding heats up in the summer it will work better for us .
