Amazing precision engineering
Was a little concerned on what I was going to get. However, the quality of the product and precision engineering of the parts are incredible. Parts are tight to fit together, but not such that you have to alter them. Can be fidley and some bits a little fragile. Once fully constructed, I was amazed that it "Just Worked". For my next kit (yes I'm hooked now), I will look at better ways to wax moving parts.

Well made, but some design flaws, works well with afew modifications
well made, but with a few design flaws. The kit is well presented with well lasered wood sheets. Instructions are good but you need to carefully check the views as to orientation/direction of view. I built the kit but would not run. Carefully checked against build instructions and built to the book. 1. I removed one of the spacers (part number 128) on the forks to prevent the locking pin (part number 129) fowling the escape wheel. 2. I replaced the 'toothpick' bearing for the tourbillon cage with a brass pin as this is an area of high friction. 3. I added 2 washers to the tourbillon cage pivet to raise the assembly slightly to prevent rubbing on the circular gear track at the top. 4. I added 4 rollers (made of brass for ease) to stabalise the tourbillon cage. The two wooden ones (part number 166) were to small to keep the cage vertical. Overall, happy with the kit. With the mods, now runs for about 3.5 hours on a wind.

Caution
I have not finished this..the plywood is very fragile it can break easy then you got to hope you can glue it back..some warnings about spring was not noted how it can bounce back after winding it and it releases'it snaps back violently so becareful with that..when the skywatcher is completed it is pretty good..its the plywood being fragile you got to be careful of and be sure when putting parts together you have correct parts in each step ant put together correctly you make a mistake and attempt to take something apart the plywood could easily break so be careful

Excellent mechanical time-piece
This model is quite fiddly to assemble, but do it carefully and it works really well, and is actually quite accurate. It's obviously not meant as an actual clock, but as a novelty piece, it is excellent and extremely interesting. I had to add some ptfe spray in one or two places to aid the moving parts, but it ran for hours before I actually decided to stop it. Highly recommended!

Not assembled yet
Looks as if the parts are well cut and it should be fun to make up.

Safty first
Read the instructions safty is to be observed. This was very enjoyable to do. The outcome is good. SAFTY FIRST watch the main spring do not release the lock until you put the head on. I almost took the end of my thumb off. When finished the clock was working after a bit fiddle, not much if you follow the instructions. I was patting myself on the back and found the dials were not moving. Had to strip down and found part 21 had broken. I am now waiting for UGEARS to send me a new part. found takes few months to get spare parts but they came. At the minute with the war they take a little longer as I had to send for spares for other puzzles but they still come. You are informed when dispatched and its free great service.
