The watch: The 2016 Presage collection spans 60 pieces across three different calibres (4R, 6R and 8R) showcases Seiko’s expertise in fine mechanical watchmaking. The collection is spearheaded by two beautiful limited editions, one featuring a black ‘Urushi’ lacquered dial and the other a pure white enamelled dial, which I purchased. The craftsmanship is exceptional. From the highly polished case, distinctive crown and prominent chronograph pushers. The genuine crocodile strap with deployant clasp is beautiful and fitting this beautiful watch. The 34 jewel 8R48A column wheel movement with gold rotor is visible the the exhibition case back with the limited edition engraving 0948/1000 on the back are a nice touch. Then there is the main attraction. The lustrous deep rich white enameled watch face with crisp black numerals and the distinctive red number 12 reminiscent of the original Seiko Laurel wristwatch. It’s the enamel that was the main attraction for me. A flat bed of perfect white that flows gently to create the subdials and the date window. Photos don't do it justice. I am thrilled I was able to purchase one of these watches. A must for any serious Seiko collector.
