I've been using $20-ish cheap knock-off sonic toothbrush. It's been working, but I got curious how Philips or Oral-B products are - they are definitely more expensive, and I've seen many good reviews on them. So here I tried this 4100 today for the first time. Definitely feeling the difference - garden hose vs fire hydrant. Brush head will be smaller then your expectation. This means you need to get busy brushing your entire teeth, but again the brush can reach to the deep area in your mouth = good for through cleaning. There are two levels of power you can control with a button. I am using the highest settings, works good. Timer feature is an added bonus.

This is my 1st electric toothbrush. I ordered it over the oral b smart 1500 because it's cheaper and I found more people who swear by it than oral b. Later on, I read comments where people who have this 4100 for 10+ years say that the newer 2021 version has only half the power of the old version. Someone on reddit showed images of the inside of the new and old versions and the new version has a small plastic toy-like motor, while the old version has a big copper-wrapped motor and an old version user said "now I understand why the new version is lighter and less powerful". I was disappointed on the new version and tried to cancel the order but I couldn't. Once it came, I decided to try it and to my surprise, it brushes my teeth way better than my manual soft-bristled and hard-bristled toothbrushes(I use both manual brushes daily compared to my daily usage of the electric toothbrush 4100 C2 head of medium bristles. If you have gum sensitive issue, buy the S sensitive or G2 optimal brush head. If you want hard-bristled, buy W diamondclean brush head). I don't know how good the old version was but this newer version definitely brushes better than any manual toothbrush unfortunately it doesn't not come with a travel case. Update 5/16/2024: I bought the Oral B smart 1500 because it was on sale and I wanted to see how better it is compared to the sonicare. The oral B package looks nicer and bigger than the Sonicare but upon opening the smart 1500 package, I saw hair all over the toothbrush. I did read many customers saying on reddit that their Oral b toothbrush were repackaged, but I can't believe I'm a victim of this nastiness. It also took 2 weeks to reach me from Hawaii and since it says "made in China", I think the seller is located in China. I'll return this and I'll advise you to buy the Sonicare instead of the oral b if you don't want to be cheated receiving a used-repackaged toothbrush. Update 05/22/2024: On 05/17/24, I bought the Oral b smart clean 360 which has exact power as the smart 1500 that I returned but the smart 360 has 5 modes and a button to change the mode while the smart 1500 has 3 modes and no button to switch between the modes. The advantage of the oral b smart clean 360 is that the brush heads cost is cheaper than the Sonicare 4100 and I find it better at whitening my teeth than the Sonicare. That's all the advantages there. The things that I don't like with it are many, so I'm just going to name the most annoying ones: 1) The brush heads are too big compared to the Sonicare(see picture): Putting Oral b brush heads in my mouth is like putting a golf ball in my mouth(my head and mouth are wider than the average US male). 2) The brush heads have holes(see pictures) that trap saliva+toothpaste and creates more noise when the brush handle needle rotates in the presence of the liquid mixture, and moisture will be also trapped easily in the holes(most customers complain about Oral b brush heads design. Oral b corrected the needle issue with the IO version but the IO introduced a shallow hole which now traps moisture in the brush handle). When I'm using the Oral b with no choice but to have my mouth wide-open, it forces my mouth to produce more saliva which gets mixed with the toothpaste and enters the brush head and creates more noise. 3) Rattling noise: The Oral b smart clean 360 isn't as noisy as people say. It's the quality of the noise the problem. It's a very unpleasant rattling noise as if you're hearing an old car engine with broken parts in it. That noise gets worse when liquid enters the brush head holes. 4) The charger is not round like a perfect circle: You must put the Oral b brush handle in a specific position to charge it and if you place it wrong, it'll fall and might break. 5) The Daily Clean mode is rough and combined with the big brush head the experience is bad, but the smart clean 360 has more mode which make it smoother and better than the smart 1500 but not as good as the Sonicare 4100. 6)It has no auto-stop mode: You keep brushing without knowing how long you have been brushing your teeth. To summarize, the oral b non-IO brush heads are cheap but very badly designed for a pleasant toothbrushing. I won't recommend it if you're shorter than 6 foot tall or have a small mouth.

I have used the Oral B electric toothbrush for years but decided I would try the Sonicare. They both clean well but the Sonicare is quieter and more gentle. The way you brush is a bit different and on the first try I wasn't sure I liked it, but after a few times to get used to it, I have to say I actually prefer the Sonicare to the OralB, though both clean really well. I do have my first dental cleaning after using the Sonicare for a few months so I will be curious to see if my dentist notices any difference in my teeth or gums.

I absolutely love this toothbrush! It works great and has made a noticeable difference in how clean my teeth feel compared to a manual brush. One of the best parts is the battery life—I can easily go a solid two weeks on a single charge, which makes it perfect for travel since I don't always have to bring the charger. It's also very easy to clean; the design is sleek and doesn't have a lot of tiny crevices where toothpaste can build up. They designed it with two intensity settings, so you can easily switch between the two speeds with the click of the button. I got this to replace a much more expensive Sonicare brush that went wonky on me. Crazy thing started turning on by itself. First time it happened was in the middle of the night. The noise woke me up and I couldn't figure out what is was. It then turned off. I walked into the bathroom and the crazy thing turned and started bouncing around. It scared the bejeezus out of me and had me trying to remember the number for Ghostbusters. Once I figured out it wasn't possessed and wasn't going to go back to working correctly I ordered this toothbrush. I'm not going to lie, the fact it was pink played a huge part. I knew I wanted another Sonicare so easy choice. The brush comes with a charger that plugs into a USB instead of the wall which is the DUMBEST idea ever. In order to actually use your toothbrush charger you have to buy a separate adapter. Just an absolutely TERRIBLE idea. Whoever thought that up and whoever approved it should be fired immediately. I contacted the company and asked if the charger for my previous toothbrush would work and they said "yes, no problem". So, I pop it on the charger and it does show it's charging and it does charge. Sort of. The old toothbrush would fully charge overnight and show a full charge in the morning. The new toothbrush said it's still charging three days later. When I take it off the charger it shows partially charged. Put it back on and a couple days later it shows "charging" while on the charger but "charged" when you take it off. All this is indicated by little lights and their color and flash or solid light. Basically it's just a crapshoot. I've started using it until it says it needs a charge then putting it on the charger overnight and using it until it says it needs charging. Wash, rinse, repeat. The toothbrush has some basic features that the instructions say you can turn on/off by pressing the buttons. Another crapshoot. The only thing I got to work was the high/low brush vibration feature. The rest I gave up on. You don't need them anyway. So the charger (if you can call it that) is stupid because you can't plug it into a wall without buying an adapter. The programming is a mess. The bright pink color looks more like a piece of chewed up bubblegum that's been stuck to a dirty city sidewalk for 4 years, not the pink you see in the pictures. I'm super happy they offered pink but it's the worst pink you can imagine, dirty chewed bubblegum pink. Yuk. There is a LOT to dislike about this toothbrush but.....when it comes to brushing your teeth, it works EXTREMELY well so it's a win I guess. Had this thing cost more than it did, I wouldn't be able to recommend it but all the bad stuff aside it's great for cleaning your teeth which is all that really matters. You're going to have to buy an adapter to plug it into your wall so go ahead and order one if you choose one of these toothbrushes. Then write the company and tell them they are idiots. It is what it is. EDIT: I've dropped the review from 4 stars to two. It's almost exactly 3 years since I bought this and the "On" button has collapsed into the body of the toothbrush making it extremely difficult to turn on. It started about 6 months ago when I heard a loud pop as I pushed the on button one morning. I started looking at other reviews and sure enough there were several people experiencing the same problem and even with new brushes. Clearly something has changed at the Philips Sonicare factory because quality went from job 1 to "what's this quality control you speak of?". Now's the question, do I buy another knowing it's probably going to break, buy a weird Sonicare copy that's automatically questionable or switch back to the brand I left when I switched to Sonicare? We are pretty vested in Sonicare so I may have to get another. If it breaks I'll go full scorched earth in the review, I should be doing that anyway. A once great company but now they are just putting out absolute garbage. Meh EDIT: Just like clockwork the replacement toothbrush started malfunctioning and within a week was dead. These things are designed to die within a certain time, it's called "planned obsolescence". The little rubber skirt that goes around the metal brush vibrater will allow small amounts of water in and causes rust to develop on the electronics. The rubber that covers the push button is low quality and wears through 3-4 years after first use. That allows even more moisture to get inside. Philips could easily make that skirt and button cover more durable but they want you having to replace the unit every three to four years (planned obsolescence). They know there's no competition and most people will buy another one. I'm on my third one I think, maybe fourth as of yesterday. I don't consider the Oral B to be a competitor. I've used one for a few years but it never cleaned as well as the Sonicare. One one hand I despise Sonicare for purposely building junk that has to be replaced every three years on the other hand the toothbrush works better than anything else (when it does work). So I've been knocking stars off each time I have to replace one of these expensive disposable toothbrushes and we're down to two stars which means I have to go to one star. Sonicare, you make a great toothbrush but your quality is terrible and it's clearly on purpose so you get one star now. I wish I could drop another but one is as low as I'm allowed to go on here.

Great quality toothbrush for the money, this is my second one! It lasts for a very long time. Simple to set up and use, runs quiet and has different settings!

I am so impressed with the Philips Sonicare 4100 Series. I purchased the Deep Pink and Light Pink versions, and they look great in the bathroom. The advanced sonic technology leaves my teeth feeling incredibly clean, and the pressure sensor is a great feature to ensure I’m not brushing too hard. My only wish is that this series came in a wider range of colors. It would be so helpful if there were options like lavender, purple, green, orange, or yellow so that every family member could have their own distinct color to avoid any mix-ups. Aside from the color limitation, it’s a fantastic toothbrush that I highly recommend!
