Worth the cost
Update: I now have 8 of these raised beds by Vego as of July 2025. My first Vego raised bed from 2022 is going strong and looks like new, even with mowing and weed whacking around it. Nothing damages these raised beds. Original review: Over the course of two years I've increased to 6 of these Vego Garden raised beds, a real upgrade from the wood bed and random pots I'd been growing vegetables in. The quality is excellent. The materials aren't flimsy and the beds are sturdy and maintain their shape when filled with dirt. Assembly is tedious, but not a complete deal breaker. The first time ever assembling one took awhile, but now it takes me a little over an hour of continuous work to assemble one completely. Speed of assembly greatly increased when Vego switched to a nut design that had the washer already attached to it, versus having to put a separate washer and nut on each bolt. I think assembly would be easier if I had some sort of ratcheting wrench or even a drill with a socket attachment to tighten everything. Since I don't, I use the tiny socket wrench enclosed with the parts kit, which is a tedious task. Each metal panel is wrapped on both sides with plastic that has to be removed, but once you get a corner pull started, the plastic rips off quickly. I've bought so many of these because they're sturdy and I really like the olive green color. I think it makes my garden area look planned and intentional, versus thrown together. The major drawback is cost. There are other cheaper alternatives offered here on Amazon--but I think quality varies greatly according to reviews. I guess I'd rather pay more for something I know will last a long time, claims to be made of food safe materials, and won't fall apart or rust-- especially since I'm growing edible items in the beds.

Beautifully designed raised bed
I had purchased this raised bed to replace a previous cedar bed that had rotted out. I was very concerned about getting a material that would not leech chemicals into the soil because this is where we grow our veggies, which is how I came across the Vego Gardens. This garden is perfect for my needs. The size configurations have flexibility, which allowed me to fit it to my space adequately. It was very easy to assemble, and each panel was covered front and back with a protective layer that prevented scratches in shipping/ unboxing. After assembly, the garden is very sturdy. We used sticks, leaves, and compost, filling the top 12" with new organic soil. I think the metal will hold in some moisture, while draining well through the bottom (the advantage of doing research on using the right materials to layer and fill the bed). Cosmetically, which was lower on my criteria, the bed is beautiful! They did not cut corners and I like the rubber lip on the top as well as the color, which coordinates nicely with our exterior on this part of our home. There are many fun accessories available from this company to add to easily (irrigation, lighting, netting, etc). Ultimately, I'm happy with the purchase, my plants are growing well and I think this will last quite a while for our needs.

These raised beds are awesome! I have six different sizes, and they all look and perform great. The quality is excellent, and my son was able to assemble them with ease. Highly recommend for anyone looking to start or expand their garden!

Great Product
I have been thinking about similar products for several years and finally decided to buy two of these. I am sooooo pleased with them...their sturdiness, their quality, and their color. Even though I needed help with assembly, it was still very easy: no pathetic hardware and no unaligned holes for the hardware. I am an Old Person but have help often. My helper and I assembled it in the garage and were able to take it to the garden with no problem at all. They look great, they're a perfect size for me...the ones I bought were 8 x 2...and I am really excited about using them. Great Product.

That plastic though....
Material quality is very good. Aside from the corners being a bit sharp (as expected), the construction was very refined. The finish is really nice! I ordered the pearl white, and it's the perfect versatile white color for outdoors. The paint and clearcoat show no chipping and water beads up nicely on it. The construction is super simple. I didn't even realize this until a ways into assembly, but the threads of the bolts actually self-tighten as they turn when you wrench the bolts down. I would still highly recommend a ratchet wrench of some sort or a drill on a low-torque setting. The gasket that is installed at the very end is a great final touch to the product. The one complaint that I have is the thin plastic protection on the product. I tried to remove it in 45F weather, and it took over 5 minutes to FULLY remove the plastic from both sides of a single panel. I later took the items into the garage overnight and it was easier in a 60F environment, but it still took about 4-5 minutes to fully remove from both sides. Finally, I took my heat gun to the panel for a minute to get the temp up to about 90F and the plastic came off at about a minute per side. WHEN TAKING THE PLASTIC OFF, DON'T PULL IT OVER THE RIBS (IT'LL LIKELY RIP), INSTEAD START FROM THE SIDE OF THE PANEL (WHEN VIEWED AS IF IT WERE INSTALLED). The completed product was actually very robust and I wish I installed it on the deck (level ground) and just picked it up and moved it to position). At the end of the day, this product is very light weight and has a minimalist feel and I think the price is definitely fair. If you were to build it out of wood or sheet metal yourself, the costs would likely be very similar, plus you'd have to paint and clearcoat the material. BUT..... the full process of removing the protective plastic layer and assembly easily took a solid 2 hours. Build it on a level surface, use a power tool to run down the nuts, and move it to its final location for best results. I'm serious in saying it took over an hour to remove all the plastic though. Disclaimer: I was provided this product at no cost to provide an unbiased review.

Very Impressed
I've done square gardening with raised beds in the past. I've been reluctant to purchase the plastic raised beds as I'm concerned about leeching. I have purchased wooden raised beds and while they were easy to assemble, they all didn't make it past 1 year. Normally the boards will warp and pop out of the posts or they would become so brittle and break. I didn't want to stain them as I didn't want to worry about leeching. In search for a better option, I came across this kit. First off the box is a bit heavy at 30lbs. Once you open the box you understand why. These are quality metal panels. The contents are well-packed. They put a plastic film on both sides of all panels to keep from getting scratched. This does take some time to remove and honestly is probably the longest part of assembly. The rest of assembly is deciding on the design and inserting bolts. From start to finish it took me about 30 minutes. Once complete it felt sturdy and held the soil I put in very well. I do recommend wearing gloves when assembling as the metal panels are a bit sharp. Also to note is they give you a nice rubber safety strip to affix to the top to avoid the sharp edge. PROS: 1. Very good quality metal panels and stainless steel fasteners. I look for this to last more than 1 year. 2. You can configure the garden bed in 9 different ways. 3. I like the deeper bed. It's higher off the ground making it easier and offers more room for roots. 4. Super easy to setup. CONS: At this point I really can't think of any. It's mid-October so my planting season is done at the moment but I'm looking forward to the Spring.

As advertised
Love this planter. Was easy to put together, which I did by myself. Won’t be growing anything in it till after winter. Using it to store plants in with straw around bases.
