POR-15 40701 Rust Remover, 1. gallons

Used on restoration of two rust covered carbon steel pocket knives. At 12 hours it had stripped away the corrosion and loosened up the slip joints as well. Easy to follow directions. Easy cleanup.

I restore old trucks with parts that are obsolete (can't get them anymore) and fight corrosion daily. This works great soaked overnight aggitating the solution and parts periodically. Let soak overnight and the rust is dissolved

I love this stuff for soaking old rusty tools, to restore them. Great for restoring old Disston saw blades too. I've reused it a few times, but it doesn't get very many multiple uses before it's black and then coats your tools in a black coating too. It's hard to clean that off of smaller parts, but at least it still removes the rust at that stage. Weakens rapidly each time. Still, it really works great, especially on antiques, I just hoped to reuse it more than I did, for the $30 a gallon pricetag.

I was working on a project that included nearly 20 feet of chain and a separate pulley. I wanted something that would allow me to soak them rather than to spray. This fit the bill nicely. This is exceptionally easy to work with. After soaking the chain, everything rinsed quite clean. Water rinsing was an added benefit. It was interesting to find that there were areas of paint on the pieces that I hadn't noticed before due to the surrounding rust.
