Even though plastic is less thermally conductive than metal a surprising amount of heat is lost during Sous Vide if the pan isn't covered. A tight fitting lid can reduce heat loss and energy usage by over 50% resulting in faster heating, improved circulator efficiency and money saved. This lid if designed to be used with our 5P 4.75 gal. polycarbonate pan. It will fit a Cambro 1218CCW135 food storage box as well, but our 5P pans (made from the Cambro) have an end notch to provide clearance for all commercial circulator clips. All of our 5L lids and 5P pans are made, machined and shipped from the USA.
