CoolSand 2 Pound Refill Pack - Moldable Indoor Play Sand in Resealable Bag Blue

I had never played with any kind of sand like this before but I had purchased a box of 2 lbs for each of my kids for Christmas. Before Christmas someone had given my daughter the name brand kinetic sand in a very small kit as an early present, and all I could think was, oh dear God - what did I do? I could see the appeal but it was really messy and the few molds that came with the kit, the kinetic sand would get stuck in it and wasn't as workable as it looked on TV. After Christmas my kids ripped into their CoolSand, and I'm so relieved. It's what the kinetic sand should have been. Don't get me wrong, it's still messy. But my kids are messy, to be expected. But the clean up on the stuff is a lot easier, you can actually take a bit of sand to pick up other small bits of sand. It still has that fluid sort of feeling like kinetic sand, but it doesn't get stuck in the molds like the other one. And I had to play with it too to test it, I think it just feels more cool and more moldable, definitely more fun to play with. So pleased with it I just ordered another 2 pounds each kid- which was a tough call to make because I'm pretty poor right now and the stuff is pretty expensive, but the kids love it. Will keep them busy for hours, not to mention the sensory aspect since my daughter is also autistic, and I have to admit I kind of like to play with it too. I also purchased the molds for the sand in the same brand and it just really is the icing on the cake. I absolutely will not even bother trying another brand of play sand after my experience- I'm pretty certain this stuff is probably the best.

I am re-writing my review because since my last review, Cool Sand has clearly made improvements!! Their kinetic sand is super soft, moldable and lots of fun to play with! Our 4 yr old son is on the Autism Spectrum, and 9 yr old daughter had sensory issues, so we like to provide both children with toys that are not only fun, but help to stimulate their senses. Cool Sand does an amazing job at providing tactile stimulation for each of our children. It also helps our youngest child calm down when he is upset, as it gives him something positive to focus on. He REALLY loves his "sand!" Thank you so much to Cool Kids Cool Sand for giving us a second chance to review their amazing, improved product. We will continue to order Cool Sand as it is a great product and a great value! I highly urge others to check out their line of products!

Great kinetic sand alternative!It works like Kinetic sand but feels like the softest beach sand. The price point is a lot nicer for price per pound as well! :)

After doing some research, I decided to buy this brand and I'm pleasantly delighted after 24 hours of play.My daughter and her friends make home made slime and the end result is odd smells, missing kitchen ingredients and dye all over my butcher block! This is none of those! I also bought the inflatable Cool Sand Tray Large, well worth it! She has plenty of room to play in it.My next batch will be the non-glitter ones.I also bought plastic jars for storage from another supplier; my daughter has named them fruit lol.Cons: Glitter everywhere, molds are generic and not appealing to a 10 year old girlPros: Easy to use, easy to wash, holds form, no dye transfer

I sent this to my 10 and 8 year old grandchildren to give them something to be creative with during the Covid-19 pandemic. I wanted them to have a break from their video games and use their brains for something different. They love it! This is seriously very cool stuff and I am so glad that they are enjoying it. It has a very cool texture and cleans up really nice, not like regular sand. This will clump together and is easy to pick up.

This was an "Oh, it got great reviews and it's cheaper than the original, so why not?" moment. It's okay to play with--feels like cookie dough--but it doesn't stick to itself as well as the original, it comes apart and gets all over the table and floor unlike the original, and is harder to clean up because it doesn't stick to itself. So after one use I ended up throwing away probably 1/4 cup. At that rate, it won't last very long around here. So back to the original for us.

My granddaughter and I LOVE this sand! It's soft and fun to just play with your hands but molds beautifully with great detail. We have the natural and the sparkle. I will say the glitter does stick to hands and transfers to a anything touched but sweeps up easily as does the sand. Well worth the minor mess for the enjoyment she gets from playing with it not to mention the quiet time I get. This is the only thing she will sit quietly and play with for more than 5 minutes as she is a VERY active 4 year old!

I may have more fun with this than my son. He's 20 mos and he loves to smoosh it and knock down the shapes I build. Obviously he's too young to be left alone with it, he's tried to eat it a couple of times. It's easy to clean up, since it sticks to itself. If you're playing with it for a while it can stick to your hands but just wiping it off it'll fall right off. I got the natural color because I was afraid the other colors would stain our hands. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I feel it's pretty expensive for a couple handfuls of sand. I get stressed out and worried about him dropping it and losing any little bit!
