They might if you cut each of the 3 sides of the U one at a time. If the cut is a mitre for a corner of a small panel, try this. Measure the length around your panel and cut a piece of channel that length. Where your corners are, just cut each side of the channel, than bend it into a 90 degree angle, take a fine pencil and mark the overlap. Unbend it a bit and cut out the excess. You'd definitely have a problem trying to cut H channel. For copper, I use a small, stationary electric saw with a very thin blade. Back in the day when I used colonial zinc or copper channel for my all beveled windows, I used dykes and a saw to make the joints. You can't get colonial channel anymore, Chicago Metallic closed. I have about 60 lbs that I'm saving for something. The thing about copper is unless you electroplate the panel instead of using a patina on your soldering, eventually the solder joints will oxidize and look different than the channel.
