SM1704 17-Stitch Lightweight Sewing Machine (White)

Great little sewing machine. Works perfect and very easy to thread. Really like the drop-in bobbin feature. Love the size and portability of it too. Quiet operation and very smooth. Great value for the money. Had a previous "Brother" sewing machine and it lasted over 30 years. Hope this one does the same. And this machine is so pretty! :) Very happy with this purchase.

I bought this machine as a beginner, mainly to do light sewing tasks like bag linings and minor alterations — and it’s been perfect so far! It’s simple to use, easy to thread, and not intimidating at all. The stitch options are just enough without being overwhelming, and it runs quietly, which I really appreciate when working late. It’s definitely not meant for thick fabrics or heavy-duty sewing, but for everyday projects and learning the basics, it gets the job done beautifully. I love how lightweight it is too — easy to store and move around. If you’re new to sewing or just want something reliable for simple tasks, this is a solid pick!

Nice for travel. Good price. Fits into carry on size bag for air travel. I kept it in the Styrofoam and plastic to protect. Basic but adequate. Doesn't have those bells and whistles but gets the job done.

Great size & several choices to choose from. It was a gift for a college student.

I have owned a lot of portable sewing machines. This one sews well but there are two things that could have been executed better: 1) the base of the machine does not make full contact with the surface that place the machine is on for sewing, which does cause the machines to tip if you put weight on that spot. It does not interfere with the sewing but it can be a bit annoying 2) The thread cutter is not efficient.I much prefer my thread cutter to be on the back of the column that lifts the presser foot up and down. The motion for this type of thread cutter is much smoother and efficient. I still can't get used to using the cutter on this machine. Overall I am happy with this product. It sews very well.

I just started to sew my stuff. It looks good to me and best of all it is easy to handle.

This is a good, solid, low cost sewing machine. The only thing to remember is to use medium to small sized spools of thread. On larger spools the thread will unravel and wrap around the spool holder. I’ve read a few reviews of people complaining about that issue but it’s actually a matter of spool size, not a defect in the machine. It’s nothing fancy, but it gets the job done.

I absolutely love the Brother SM1704 Sewing Machine! It was incredibly easy to use right out of the box. Threading the machine and winding the bobbin were both simple and hassle-free. I used it to make a memory bear for a family member, and the machine handled the project beautifully without any issues. I’m excited to take on more sewing projects soon! I, personally, cannot rate the sewing machine. I purchased it as a Christmas gift for my granddaughter. I have owned a Brother machine for over 65 years … still works very well … the main reason I ordered BROTHER. I am sure she will love ❤️ it.

The machine is perfect and has a lot more features from my last machine that I also purchased from Amazon

Hate this machine, bobbin is impossible to get right and makes this useless to me. Do not recommend.
