Why is this black? It should be beige to match the A500 mini, like the one included... frustrating! Will there be a beige one?

No idea but its meant to be a CD32 coloured version ( dark Green ) but not sure why you would worry to much. TheC64 and C64Mini were beige but the Joysticks were Black and the Amiga never actually had a gamepad at all.

Can this controller work with a real amiga using a db9 to usb adapter?

I’m not sure but 95% yes 👍 give it a try If not :( it works on pc so down Amiga forever emulator then use it 👍 on buy a A500 mini

Why is this black? i’ve pre-ordered the a500 mini, this won’t match the beige controller or system? it’s frustrating! is there a beige one coming?

Amiga never had an official controller (don't think the C64 did either) until the Amiga CD32 came along and this is based on (but isn't exactly identical to) that controller. Since Commodore used the standard 9 pin connector used at least since the Atari 2600 so they just let people use/buy any standard joystick they liked. By the time they were releasing the CD32 (which was more of a console anyway) things like the SNES & Mega Drive both had 6+ button options and with the CD32 being a console they needed a controller to go with it and this is what we got. Google CD32 controller to see what the original looked like, Amazon won't let me upload an image to go with this
