Yes it works but you need to buy glue separately
I have been using this method to prevent and treat ingrown toenails for a few years now. This works and immediately relieves pain. Downside is it only lasts about 2-3 weeks because it falls off and needs to be re-applied. But by then it should also be no longer ingrown.FYI the product on this page is only the plastic strip and doesn't come with anything else. You need to piece together your own kit. Here is what I recommend:Clear elastic plastic toenail strips (this product)ethyl 2-cyanoacrylate aka superglue aka strong nail gluelow grit nail file or something rough like sand papertweezers or something to press down the glue withtoe nail clippers flat style. rounded is meant for finger nailsrubbing alcoholProblem: The side edge of the toenail curves down and grows into the skin causing pain (ingrown toenail).Solution: Make the nail flatter so it doesn't dig in on the sides by gluing the plastic strip on the toenail. The flatness of the strip will apply a lifting force to the sides of the nail. Here is the general procedure to follow1. Cut toenails straight across. Yeah rounding the corners looks better but it encourages the nail to develop a curve and become ingrown.2. Use the file to rough up the nail. It is important to rough it up as much as possible to a) slightly reduce the thickness of the nail and b) create micro crevices for the glue to stick to better3. Trim the plastic toenail strip to size. Horizontally I do about 80-90% of the way to the edges of the nail on each side, and vertically about 2/3 of the way forward. Use the file to rough up the strip like you did in step 2.4. Using rubbing alcohol, clean the surface of the nail and clean the surface of the toenail strip. Let it air dry.5. Apply a thin coat of nail glue to half of the strip. Nail glue bottles come with a small applicator brush that works pretty well. Due to the curvature of the toenail, I have found it generally works better to glue half of the strip at a time. I usually do the inner side, closest to the other toes first. Press down using tweezers or something and hold for 60 seconds.6. Repeat step 5 for the remaining half of the strip.7. Enjoy your pain free toenail. This will last about 2-3 weeks. Possibly longer if glued perfectly.

Not so great
The product is as seen, however, it is not what you think. There is no glue or an understanding for what type of glue to use, there is no trimmer that it speaks of, there are no directions when it's mailed to you so you have to do it blind, its not as strong as it claims and they will crack snap and pop on you.It says strong but it's really weak material.Be mindful. This is a half baked product.

Super cheap, relatively simple to use, very effective! Just add glue! (see tips within)
I've had a lot of problems with ingrown toenails, and even had surgery on one side of one of them. When I first tried these, I was near the point of seeking surgery yet again. I had 2 nails deeply ingrown and infected. This took care of it! That was probably a year ago, and I've used them on and off since then as needed. In my case, after using one (or 2 if I need more pressure) a few weeks it'll be "fixed" and the nail will go for months with the issue recurring, until I start doing things that encourage the problem to return (like a weird habit I have of curling my toes in my motorcycle boots.) BTW, I find the strips will stay on my nail for 1-2 weeks on average. In my experience, "medium" thickness super glue to be perfect, and I use disposable applicator tips, which are easy to find on amazon. My recommendation: Instead of searching for "superglue", search Amazon for "medium cyanoacrylate" and you'll get results for larger bottles of it designed for hobbyists. Starbond & Bob Smith are 2 good brands (I prefer Starbond's bottles.) Anyway, these hobbyist brands are a MUCH better value and they don't go to waste! I find a 2 oz bottle will last 1+ years without getting dried up! The glue is high quality, and you can get a wide variety of thicknesses—I find the thinner liquids like medium dry much faster, especially compared to the gels and such that you usually find in stores. What I do is:1. Trim strip to size2. Put a drop of the medium cyanoacrylate on one side of my nail using an applicator tip3. Press an edge of the strip on the dot and hold it in place. I like to use the tip of tweezers or similar to hold it. If you're impatient, you can spray a small mist of 91% isopropyl alcohol there, which will make the glue that's seeped out of the edges cure nearly instantly, holding the strip in place. I use a 2oz fingertip spray bottle.4. After you're confident it's dried, apply a drop of glue on your nail under the other end of the strip and hold it in place, like the other. You can use another spritz of isopropyl on this side if you've prepared some.I think doctors just *like* doing expensive surgeries on ingrown toenails. When I went in, the doctor didn't begin by telling me about treatment techniques—he began by getting out anaesthetic injections. This tells me that surgery is just the default option, at least for him. I get that these strips aren't perfect, but they've solved my problems for the foreseeable future. Super cheap, relatively simple to use, effective!

too firm of strips, caused bruising
Toenail strips come in levels of strength, and these are very high. so much so that both sides of my nails bruised badly from the nail being pulled up. I'm looking for a more mild strip and had to throw these away. Deducted one star because this was not clear before purchasing.

Useless
The plastic tabs are not long enough so they never stay in place. Very disappointing.

I would not buy this
I have tried to get these to stick on my toenail and I can’t get them to stay on the nail. No instructions on how to do it. No glue to use with them. Not happy with this product.

With good prep these work so well
These require some in depth prep but they are very effective for me. Completely bare/clean nail, rough up the nail surface with a file, and rough up one side of a plastic strip, then use a good nail glue and glue down 1 side first, make sure that’s completely set and then glue the middle, make sure that’s set, then glue the last side. They stay on well as long as you prep well and they genuinely make a huge difference in reducing the curve of my big toe nails. They are mildly painful for a bit but you get used to them and then there’s intense relief once the nail settles into a normal shape. Love these things. I have one on each big toe.
