Get the kits, the value is better!
It works. But you don't need it, its simply nice to have though. I should've bought the kit tho

Perfect for "caviar"
Got this to simplify my 'caviar' making - this is way better than pipettes. (A full-fledged titration setup would be even better, but I don't need to make THAT much :) If you're interested in home-scale molecular gastronomy/ modernist cuisine this is a reasonable purchase. I've not tried it out for making 'noodles' but I imagine it will work well. Pros: It came with an extra o-ring replacement part as well, which I wasn't expecting, but am glad to have available. It comes apart for easy cleaning. Cons: Not really any. It doesn't have any volume measuring capabilities, but that didn't really matter for my purposes. Overall happy with the purchase.

Takes time
A fairly stiff plunger so it takes a little time to work out for consistent product, overall build is nice and it came with a new seal in case the existing one tears.

This works so much better than the eye droppers did! I just recently discovered making food pearls/caviar and now I don't know how I served food without it before!
