Simon covers Simon
I'm a HUGE Paul Simon fan (emotionally, thank you very much. At 61 years old, I still have my trim, girlish figure, sort of.) This tribute helped me realize how incredibly influential this quiet little man has been - not just to fans, but to music and our society. It was genius to have so many major vocal artists do covers of Simon's work. This DVD (actually, I got the BluRay and it was well worth the extra money) replays some of the South Africa concert, his performance at the Joe DiMaggio tribute, his SNL appearance with George Harrison and other historic moments from his career. This is a must-have. I anxiously await the arrival of his new, much-heralded album. An incredible artist who (with one stumble on Broadway) seems to get more incredible with every year.

Paul Simon And Friends: The Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song
Having seen a portion of this award presentation to Paul Simon on PBS, I knew I had to have the CD.The CD is classic Paul Simon and watching him andother musicians who are his contemporaries perform his music has been equally pleasureable. The CD contains his most popular and well known compositions and performances, and for those of us who are consumate Paul Simon fans it's a treasure to own. I held a Paul Simon party at my house to which I invited those friends of mine who I know are P.S. enthusiasts, and after cocktails and snacks we sat to be entertained by our favorite American composer/performer. If you like Paul Simon's music, you will like owning this CD.by Dora Guerra, San Antonio, Texas

Great Performances Honoring a Special Performer!
A very special DVD. Using Simon's own band to back up the other artists performing his songs was a brilliant move, as it maintained the integrity of his works in their new forms. It did seem like the videographer (or editor) was enamored of Simon's band manager Mark Stewart, as he appears prominently in an extraordinary number of scenes. The inserted clips of Simon singing "Mrs. Robinson" at the Yankee Stadium tribute to DiMaggio was as awkward here as it was originally. The clips of Simon's recorded duets with Miriam Makeba and George Harrison were priceless, welcome additions. The only real downer of the whole experience was Philip Glass's piano mangling of "Sounds of Silence". It was tortured and barely recognizable!Overall, this purchase was well worth the money!

super-solid music- worth every penney!
Along wth Neil Young, this is the truly stellar genius of a career-performer who has never failed to entertain, provoke, and inspire.Very few have half the depth of Mr. Simon's catalogue of music in their back pockets; he is simply unmatched in what he does. His prose and lyrical ability takes the high-road of looking at the human race with both amusement and utter profundity.Besides Paul Simon himself on this opus, you get real alternative takes on his music that adds to the sonic glory of Paul's past and present 'hits'. I say hits with parentheses, because to me they are all standards, they stand with time among the great composers preceded by him. I can't wait to hear what he does next!

Dissatisfied with vendor!!!
I ordered TWO coppies of this DVD -- one as a gift. When my copy was defective (pixilation and stops and starts in program), I checked the "gift" copy. It, too was not playing properly. It is NOT my DVD player as several other discs played just fine. This was a wonderful program and I was so looking forward to re-living it and sharing the great performances with others. Now Shout Factory has not responded to my requests (via e-mail) to return/exchange these DVDs. HELP~!

Such a disappointment
I definitely expected to LOVE this collection, was excited to actually own a DVD of the concert honoring Paul Simon’s brilliance. Instead, it alternated between painful, boring and maddening to listen to HIGHLY capable artists flatly interpret this selection of Paul Simon’s words and music.

What a tribute to the iconic American music master
The point of this tribute show is that the music and songwriting are wonderful and are only enhanced by the top-notch performers playing and singing Paul Simon's wonderful creations. I love this DVD and have sent it to several friends because I know that they will "get" the magic. You have magical reunions with Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Stevie Wonder, but the non-Paul renditions are absolutely wonderful. Allison Kraus, Shawn Colvin, and Jerry Douglas give you an incredible version of "The Boxer". Buckwheat Zydeco and Lyle Lovett rock the house, and who cannot adore the Dixie Hummingbirds??? Anyone thinking that not having Paul singing all of the songs clearly does not get it.
