Is there any reason to not use this on the back of brake pads?

I've used this on the back of brake pads for years with no issues on cars, vans and motorcycles. Stays in place and keeps brakes quiet even with the high heat generated in mountain driving.

Can you use this to protect car battery terminals?

Yes, I use it to protect my battery terminals.

How is this different than ags bk4 in its intended use?

AGS Silglyde BK-4 and SG8 are the same formulation. Just marketed with different product numbers based on the primary industry served. I was confused as which was best for my brake calipers and I contacted AGS directly and that is what they told me.

what are the ingredients? Specs do not specify silicon

I researched for you and I, and all I can find for description is that it is a Silicone based product, possibly Silane which is Silicon atom with 4 Hydrogen bonds of different bond strength attached to Silicon atom. Don't quote me on this. I can recommend Dynatex 49593 which is silicone based and much more viscous (thick) depending on what you are using this for. I love using both of these items on any rubber parts as they do not cause rubber to swell, such as a grease based product would. And it preserves the flexibility of rubber that is coated with either of these.
