You should be competent to carry out electrical work. I am competent because I was trained in electricity and electronics for a living. The power must be turned off before you start work. You must have an electrical detector that warns you if there is electricity in the circuit you are working on. It will check that the circuit is definitely not live. They are reasonably cheap and could save your life. If you are not competent I suggest you employ an electrician rather than purchase this cable yourself. I used this cable on a lighting circuit in my loft and was found excellent. It fulfilled the function it was intended for and flexible to use.
