Pumping Insulin: Everything for Success on an Insulin Pump and Cgm

This book provides recommendations for starting settings and subsequent adjustments of insulin pumps for insulin-dependent diabetics. I read the book about 5 months ago and followed the recommendations. My glucose control has improved dramatically as evidenced in the historic graphs my pump produces. I have been very frustrated in the lack of good advice provided by my endocrinologist. This book is a must read for anyone struggling to control glucose using an insulin pump.

We have always called this the pumping Bible. John Walsh provides amazing clear guidance on using an insulin pump! We purchased his original edition when our child began using an insulin pump and found it full of very useful information. She is away at college and we felt it was time to get her own pumping bible! If you are new to pumping or long in the tooth...this is a very needed tool in your toolbox! Buy it now!!!

I wasn’t sure if I really needed this book because I have the previous edition already. However I’m so glad I bought it. It has a lot more charts and graphs to help solve blood sugar questions. It’s also spiral-bound which is very helpful. Just one or two of the updated shirts made this book worth the price.

Very well written and very good information on setting basils and boluses.

Great book for insulin pump users or people who are new to insulin pumps. Diabetic since 9 years old, been on injections for 17 years before changing to a pump and this has helped me so much!

Great update of the older edition, to include newer pumps and insulin. As always, if you know nothing about pumps...this is a good start. I am a nurse practitioner, a CDE, and BC-ADM, and this was a tremendous help when I first started to do pumps. Recommend this above any other book out there.

Just arrived so just beginning to read, but i had the third version and see this has been updated. Looking to recalibrate my pumping settings /diabetes care. I am a Type 1 for over 30 years and have been gaining weight and having odd lows so think perhaps I need to work on my basal rate again.

It's the best book for everyone who wants to work with an insulin pump. It's helpful not only for healthcare professionals, but for patients too. Especially, when you want to understand all the tricky setting of your pump and be better educated.

Un libro basico para las personas con diabetes simplemente maravilloso para repetir porque siempre añade algun capitulo nuevo tengo dos ediciones diferentes y a excepcion del capitulo de calculador de bolos que veo han eliminado en ultima version genial

Useful book

I've been type 1 for 33 years. I've been on the pump for ~10 years. I'm continually updating my knowledge on the subjects and every book I read, I learn something new. This book is no exception. It goes into detail on how to calculate and test your basal, bolus, carb factor, correction factor, different types of infusion sets and when the set may be the source of your problems.. Common issues that pop up and insight into what the possible causes may be. And depending on your issue, where to start to correct it. I don't use a CGM on a consistent basis. I wish I could but I'm not covered for them. This book covers them thoroughly also. Even if you don't use CGM, it's worth a read for the information on pumps.

Das Buch war für mich, einer der Überraschung dieses Jahr. Ich selbst bezeichnen mich gerne mit meinen 25 Jahren Typ 1 als Veteran. Was ich aber aus dem Buch neues lernen konnte, ließ mich wieder mit frischen Wind an meinen Diabetes gehen. Läuft jetzt Definitiv besser.

Se supone que es la versión mejorada del libro clásico de bombas de insulina de J. Walsh. En este caso el "libro" es un cuadernillo malo, la impresión es lamentable, el cartoncillo de la portada se dobla con mirarlo y la espiral se sale. Respecto al contenido, no han cambiado nada ó casi nada (yo de momento no he encontrado ninguna novedad respecto al previo). Me parece fatal que un libro que tiene una tirada tan grande, que es un clásico en manejo de bombas de insulina, se haya convertido en un cuadernillo mal hecho. Ni siquiera se ha notado en el precio, que sigue rondando los 30 euros. A pesar de todo, lo recomiendo si tienes una bomba de insulina porque trae consejos prácticos que no puedes encontrar en otros sitios.
