nice everyday porcelain dinnerware set
I bought some of this Gibson Regalia dinnerware from another big box retailer a few years ago, but I moved and wanted to add more place settings, so I purchased this set for forty bucks and feel it was a great value. To the comment that these feel "flimsy," this is porcelain dinnerware, which should be much lighter and thinner than stoneware/ironstone, and still be stronger. Personally I prefer a lighter-weight porcelain plate after using hefty stoneware plates for many years! I definitely recommend it for quality and value, but people shouldn't expect a fancy designer-quality set at this price point. However, the new set doesn't quite match the old one--the plates are just a hair smaller, and the pattern is more distinct. The teacups are also a slightly different, taller shape (see photo--the new set is on the right). However, the sets are close enough in appearance that I will mix them and use them together (probably only I will notice the differences). We love having two sizes of bowls--they are really useful! I rarely use the teacups for tea or coffee since they are smaller than normal coffee mugs, but they make great custard or pudding cups. The teacups hold about 3/4 cup, the small bowls hold just over a cup, and the large bowls hold about 2 1/2 cups.

These are so nice!
These plates are exactly what I wanted. They're beautiful, can be used every day or for more formal dressed-up dinners. So far they have held up well. They don't mark with silverware or when you use knives on them like some other stoneware I've had previously. They're lighter weight than what I had previously but still feel substantial. Personally I don't like super thin flatware, it feels cheap, but that's my preference. Lots of teacups I'll probably never use, but I like the smaller bowls for the kids, perfect for applesauce or ice cream, and the larger bowls are what you'd expect size-wise for cereal/soup/etc. For the cost, I'm extremely happy with this purchase.

Not Perfect but Overall Good
I read the reviews about issues some had and decided to still place the order because it was a good price for so many pieces. Overall, I am happy with the set. I had three pieces with small black spots like some others have had. But, the pieces feel like they are durable. They've all been through the dishwasher at least once since I washed them all when I got the set. Some have been through a few more times since then. The cereal bowls are a good size. I know some are not sure what they would do with the smaller bowls. I wasn't sure either, but I actually really like them. I've used them for dipping sauces and as small prep bowls while cooking. I chopped up and measured ingredients for a recipe and put them all in individual small bowls to use while cooking. It was convenient to have things separated to be used as needed. Frankly, I'd like to have a few more of them. I'll probably also use them for better portion control for things like sweets or snacks. I haven't used the serving platter or serving bowl yet, but they are a good, medium size. I've seen larger ones for sure, but they look like they would hold a good amount. I can see serving a pasta dish from the serving bowl. Be prepared for some minor flaws, unless you get lucky, but I can live with the little black spots on a couple of the dishes. The serving dishes are fine. The spots are on one cereal bowl and two plates. I guess I can be sure I get one of the flawed dishes if I have company and need to use all 6 plates.

Excellent Quality / Excellent Price! And Serving Pieces Too!
I really like this Dinnerware Set. It's nice for every day, and for special occasions too! The Serving Pieces and Salt & Pepper set are a nice perk to go along with the set. Excellent Price, Excellent Quality! I've bought Gibson home products before, I've had no problems. I just wish they offered a matching completer set with a Cream & Sugar service, and more serving bowls, etc. I'll probably buy a 2nd set soon.Edited/updated to show picture of bowl size (customer question) slightly more than 16 oz (2 cups). I've used this daily for 7 months now. It is still bright and beautiful.

Amazing Dinnerware!
Just received and unpacked 3 sets of Gibson Regalia Dinnerware (46 Pieces ea.) to replace everyday dishes. I'm thrilled with these sets- every piece arrived in perfect condition, & they are beautiful. Creamy white, crisp detail, and great value! These lighter weight dishes are a nice change from my old, heavy stoneware.

Average quality for the price
I purchased this Dinnerware set for my new home, and got it for $39.99 + shipping. Which was a deal compared to other places selling similar sets (both style and number of items).I was pleased with the price, and my girlfriend chose the style, so I didn't really care for the 'texture/ribbing' around the edges. However after recieveing the package, and reviewing I found a few issues:The salt & pepper shakers had poorly driller/stamped holes in the top (they were all over the place and not in any kind of pattern, more around the edges than in the center in a usable fashion). The plates are all warped, if I flip them around, and lay them flat on the counter, they rock back and forth, it is not huge, but its annoying when you open the cupboard and you see these oddly stacked plates, since you can see the warping rather clearly. (Maybe thats what I get for $39.99 plus ship?).Imperfections here and there, ranging from the little bowls to the large bowl, some artifacts here and there.Overall I am happy that I got a good deal on this set as comparisons from Target/Costco/Walmart would have been slightly more for a 46 set.Just keep that in mind for this set, it is not the best quality dinnerware. Or maybe I'm just overly picky.
