Amazon Grocery, Hickory Smoke BBQ Sauce, 18 Oz (Previously Happy Belly, Packaging May Vary)

You put it on the meat BEFORE you cook it - preferably a couple of hours before, and then brush on another layer when it's half done and you turn it over. That's why it tastes so strongly of vinegar if you try to use it as a finishing sauce, you're cooking, not ordering a box of Chicken McNuggets. I will be fair, after checking the bottle it has no instructions on it at all, someone along the line apparently having figured that everyone knows how to barbecue. All I can say 9is that it tasted great when properly used, so I'm sad to see it gone.

as a cost savings measure i though i would try amazon's store brand... tried both flavors and at first it thought the honey bbq one was the hickory smoke.. i could taste the sucralose sweetener in it but i though that had a good smokey flavor.... to my surprise though turns out the hickory smoke flavored one was just an absolute abomination of a product.. between 2 bottles in the same order.. one seemed to burn the back of my throat and tasted overly acidic and not like much else.. the other was just bland.. not hardly sweet.. am willing to accept that maybe there was a bad batch at the factory and the bottles in my order were just poorly mix... the bottle it self was especially cheap... soda pop style twist cap, thing plastic.. not every easy to pour... over all i would not recommend the hickory smoke flavor

I have two bottles of this sauce in my pantry and I pulled one out to use in my recipe. I take off the plastic that covers the lid, which I appreciate. But then I try and open the twist-top lid. It will not budge. OK...that sometimes happens, so I go into my kitchen drawer and pull out my rubber gripper that I use for stubborn jars and bottles. I never really need to use it for bottles but I figured this will work. It does not. This bottle does NOT want to open. So I pull out the other bottle from my pantry, take off the plastic, try to open the bottle with my bare hand and same problem. I use the gripper and it's not opening. I try harder and I feel something like it moved. I try again and it finally opens but not without a lot of effort. I can understand if one bottle had a problem, but both of them did so there must be a design flaw where the plastic isn't cut through far enough for it to break when twisted. Meanwhile, I have a very sore hand where the lid and the gripper rubbed my skin. Great price, but I don't think I'm going to buy again unless this was a fluke. (And I still haven't opened up the other bottle and my have to throw it out unless my husband can figure out an alternative way to open it.
