Does this fit GE 8000 btu window unit?

Highly doubt it. This is for a four-ton outside unit.

do they not make general electric capacitors anymore?

Could not find one. The one showing here worked. easy to install and bought another for my second unit.

Is this capacitor equal to OEM ? Seems like the original lasted many years and my last order about one year, why?

It's rated the same as the original and it is starting my condenser fan just fine. That's about all I can say.
