Fantastic stone ground chocolate
Superb stone ground chocolate!!! If you’re obsessed with the best, this is a must try. I sent these to my daughter all the way across the US just so we can discuss the lovely flavors and textures.

Smooth w/ gentle grit. Wonderful grit adds mouth feel. Slightly creamy, bite but not bitter
"Chocolate With True Grit. We use traditional Mexican stone mills, called molinos, to grind our cacao. The hand-carved stones that turn inside these mills preserve the bright, fruity flavors of the beans, and create a chocolate that's bold, rustic, and satisfyingly gritty -- unlike any other chocolate you've tasted" I flipping LOVE this "Super Dark" chocolate (85%). I adore the slight grit. It adds to the sensory experience. It IS satisfying. It isn't jarring to me at all. I'm in love. Think this is my new favorite for 85% cocoa because of the texture. It is just awesome (to me). This is my first time trying Taza chocolate. I am new to purposely eating dark chocolate. I dont know if my tastebuds have changed or if I was just trying the wrong stuff, but recently I have tried some very good dark chocolate, and I am preferring it over milk chocolate. It isnt as cloying. I find I can eat a little and be happy. I know it is healthier, which is a huge bonus. Pretty sure prior experience with dark chocolate was just HersheysSpecialDark, and so yeh.. when I decided to try dark chocolate again, I went for more premium brands (at premium prices). This is very good tasting to me. Has a bite, but not bitter. Just enough creaminess to lend a good mouth feel. The grit factor really adds a lot to the experience for me. Each packed round has 2 disks inside. Pack of 12 equates to 24 discs. Score marks allow for easy breaking off of pieces. I like that I can savor a slice at a time. I have not done anything else with it other than to eat it directly.

A little pricey but very nice quality chocolate
This chocolate tastes really good. I love the stone ground texture. It definitely has a quality taste to it, but the flavors are all pretty faint and don't come through as strong as I would have liked. The biggest complaint I have with this chocolate is the price. I paid $23 for this 8 pack sampler as a gift for my wife. After trying the chocolate and seeing the size of each disc, I would never pay this price again. As I write this review I see the chocolate is on a sale for $16.10 now. $2 a disc might be a more reasonable price if you want to try something special and unique. That being said, the chocolate is organic, doesn't contain toxic ingredients like dyes or artificial flavoring, etc. Quality chocolate can be hard to find, and I appreciate that Taza isn't using harmful ingredients.

Satisfying
Fun to try, and I like the texture. I’ve only eaten the vanilla so far, yummy!

Flat Out my Favorite Chocolate on the Planet but Outrageously Priced
I love Taza Chocolate discs. The stone ground "grainy" texture. The unique flavors. I am a chocolate fiend and these are at the absolute top of the list for my personal tastes. As in the number one spot. But the prices are beyond absurd (for me subjectively). Even within the 2023 scope of post-pandemic and "inflation", the prices are still outrageously silly. I don't mind paying for quality once in awhile, especially if I consider it the best in a category. But even with that framing, the prices are still bonkers. I tried these the first time many moons ago during a summer chocolate clearance sale on an Amazon sister site. And even during that they were a seemingly silly price. But the flavors in their 8 count variety pack were too intriguing to pass up. I was blown away when they arrived. If you'll pardon the descriptor; orgasmic. They were simply amazing. I immediately bought a handful more and tossed em in the deep freezer. Pulling one out on random rainy days over time. That was it for purchasing the best chocolate on the planet for years though. They sat on my Amazon wishlist with their absurd prices, never reaching a point where I could venture back into chocolate heaven. Years. I just picked this 4 pack up on "sale" for 8USD which is the lowest it has been in those years. My glasses weren't rose-tinted; These were still my favorite chocolate. The grainy texture can only be described as such, but doesn't do it justice. It's still chocolate. It still melt in your mouth. It's an amazing textural experience and mouth feel. The "minimally processed" really shines through in this respect. The chocolate itself is top notch. They don't over sweeten. It's the right amount of bitter. Perfectly balanced. And then the flavors... My goodness. Again, perfect balance. Perfect amount of each to make them present, but in the end it's still chocolate first and foremost too. The flavor and chocolate are always hitting you the same amount from bite to aftertaste. Perfect unison. But the prices are dumb. The brand has leaned more into bars and less fun flavors (though who knows, I haven't tried them because; ya know). These Mexican inspired discs hopefully aren't ever going to fall to the wayside because man, they're lightning in a bottle. Prices and spending are nearly completely subjective, I'm just too much of a boring tightwad to be able to enjoy these as much as I'd like. Even 5% as much as I'd like. Who knows, maybe it's for the better, "too much of a good thing" and all that! I just wanted to say, that if you're on the fence and the price isn't a barrier; Go for it. These are amazing. They are IT.

Really enjoying this chocolate
This chocolate is exactly as advertised. It's delicious and I enjoy the variety of flavors. A little bit of texture because it's stone ground, but I like that. It tastes more natural. Surprisingly, one of my favorites is the Guajillo Chili. It's not hot, but just warms the tongue- wonderful!

Not edible as is
I bought the Cacao Puro, 70% TL;DR; Horrible, tastes like choco sand. Either they don't know how to make this, or it goes bad in the warehouse. NOTE, this *IS* stone ground, but the sand texture is NOT from that grind. The sand goes AWAY if you blend just a little with half n half. The sand is a tempering, or something, problem.... ( Sorry, I don't know choc lingo... ) Too long, will read: This chocolate, while tasting GREAT, has the texture of sand. It is HORRIBLE to eat as is. only buy this to use as an ingredient. I wouldn't complain, but they advertise these as "Delicious to eat or drink" They are NOT. They are GROSS to eat. Like eating chocolate flavored sand. GOOD FLAVOR chocolate, but as sand texture, is not good. You will need to process these yourself. I'm trying to blend these in a dish, in parchment paper, with a bit of half n half First impressions. DO NOT DO THIS. Put them in parchment paper, maybe, and GENTLY reheat in the oven? 150F ? I'll go try that now, and maybe add to this review. it is 4 am already, sigh, so maybe another day... So, trying 1 patty in the microwave, 50% power, for 10 seconds, rest for 10s, 20s, rest for 10s, 60s, leave it be. I'll tell ya tomorrow. The other patty is in the oven, on 175, electric oven, it goes +25 F, so peak 200F I'll turn it off and just leave it sit until noon, when I might get up, lol I'll edit this review tomorrow, if I remember, if anything turns out smooth. EDIT 5/21 9 PM The oven thing didn't really work. Wife and daughter say I have to use butter, so I'll try that, not tonight. The half n half DID work to get rid of the sand texture, but now the flavor is off. I'm not sure about butter, that might also change the flavor. I'll try land o lakes salted AND refined lard ( which is flavorless... ) If you see no reply within a few days, it means all the shortening has given me a heart attach, and I died. (Kidding.. It simply means I got bored, nothing worked, and I won't buy this chocolate again... ) So, AGAIN, if you are going to use this stuff IN SOMETHING, where you can taste it, BUY IT. Just don't eat it plain...
