Q: Are the pieces bigger than other K'nex sets? I have the kids K'nex for my 3yr old but was wanting something for my 5yr old.

The K'NEX Education Maker Kit large is smaller plastic parts that click together to make 3 dimension projects. K'NEX parts in general are recommended for ages 5+ and this particular kit is full of building ideas recommended for ages 6 and older. K'NEX is not compatible with Kid K'NEX.

Q: Does the lid lock tight? I have seen Lego storage boxes where the lid just sits on top but doesn't lock tight.

The lid locks very tightly. I’ve broken a nail trying to open it.

Q: Extra cars for the roller coaster sets?

An Orange Coaster Car which will work with K'NEX coasters that use black chain links and preformed tracks can be purchased from the K'NEX Web site in the Parts and Extras section.
