Solo 4300343 Sprayer Deluxe Shoulder Saver Harness, White

You would think that a backpack sprayer would come with a decent shoulder harness, but mine (an Echo, similar to the Solo shown here) did not. The original straps cut into my shoulders and anything over 3 gallons was very uncomfortable, and the unit was unstable while pumping. The Deluxe Shoulder Saver harness fits like a good backpack-type harness should: the weight is supported on the hips by a wide, padded belt, and there is a chest strap to hold the shoulder straps together to stabilize the whole rig and keep them from slipping outwards. This makes the whole pack hug your body, making it very easy to spray with one hand and pump the lever with the other. I can easily take 4 gallon loads in to spray my grapevines, even though I have a skin graft on one shoulder from prior surgery (and which the original straps irritated like crazy!) If you have a backpack sprayer, do yourself a favor and invest in this harness. It appears well made and should last a long time.

My only complaint is the picture used in ad showed adjustable straps at the top of the straps. The unit I received had a fixed close loop strap. Would recommend more photos be added to clearly show the ends that connect to sprayer.

As so many of the reviews indicate, installing this harness was very time consuming but worth the effort. This harness is so much more comfortable than the original harness that comes on the sprayer. Do not cut the original harness off and discard!!!!! You will need the parts on the end of each strap of the original sprayer. I didn't realize this (it does not indicate this in the instructions) and I had to fish through my trash can to find what I had cut off. Well worth the money for the comfort. I can now fill to a full 4 gallons and carry on my back without too much discomfort, remembering that a "pint's a pound the world around" so you are carrying 32 pounds when it is full.

Fit perfectly, works better than the original

Knocking two stars may seem a bit rash, but they're adequate for the frustration that came with the straps. Let me just say, once you have everything worked out, this harness is amazing and will take away any negative feelings you have about using your sprayer. It's like the weight disappears once you have everything buckled and tightened properly. However- The first time I bought this harness, the straps were sewn on to the wrong side. This was not me just looking at it wrong, the left shoulder strap was on the right, and vice versa. I had seen other reviews complain of this as well, so I sent it back. I decided to try buying from a commercial landscape supply company, and guess what? Same deal. So this is not an Amazon issue, this a Solo production issue. Quick Fix- Just snip off the plastic rings at the end of the adjustment strap so you can unlace the straps and switch them. Yes, it would be wonderful to have a product that was put together properly, but at the end of the day it is most definitely worth it.

Great harness, sure beats the 2 strap affair that comes with the Solo sprayer. Mine finally broke (after 10 tears of use). The reason I didn't give it 5 stars as ot comes with no hardware at all (or should I say plastic ware). I have an older model sprayer with no retention pins in the top mounts, just plastic clips and I lost one when the strap broke in the field spraying and was lost. I replaced both clips (still had one) with small hitch clips from my parts box. The harness is designed for the newer style upper pin mount, not the old style retainer clip. Like was previously stated. read and follow the instructions as it appears the straps are backwards, they aren't. The harness should make my life easier as I spray a lot. Hard to beat a Solo sprayer, I've run hundreds of gallons of Roundup Ultra through mine with no issues whatsoever.

Excellent product. Great improvement or the straight straps that came with the sprayer. I hesitated to buy it due to the significant number of reviews who claimed it was assembled incorrectly. I will admit that when I first looked at it, I started to think the same thing. However, I was wrong. It can definitely be confusing but it is correct. Begin by studying the picture on the installation manual. It is detailed and correct. Using pliers to squeeze the barbs, remove the plastic pins that hold the top red handle on the tank and remove the old straps. Unbuckle the waist strap and lay out the strap assembly in front of the tank to help you orient everything. The outside surface of the wide strap should be face up and the curved edge should match the curve in the tank. Refer to the pictures. Attach the wide belt to the bottom tubular frame first, this is opposite from what the instructions say. Flip the wide belt up into position. make sure the outside surface of the belt is facing the tank. Hold one of the shoulder straps up so that its narrow strap is not twisted. The shoulder side of the pad should be facing you. You should not be able to see the logo. Twist (flip over) the shoulder pad inward towards the center of the tank. You should now see the logo. Attach the top of the strap and handle to the tank, replacing the plastic pin that holds them all together. When assembled correctly, there will be a 180 degree twist in the narrow strap leading from the wide belt up to the shoulder pad. This is shown in the drawing on the assembly sheet. It's necessary to create a loop with the top strap and buckle. Do that before you try to assemble so you can insert the plastic pin through the red handle and strap loop. Repeat the process for the other side, making sure to twist (flip) the shoulder pad inward towards the center of the tank. Adjust all the straps. I found that it was best to shorten the bottom connection straps as much as possible to help support the tank higher on the back. The bulk of the weight should be on the hips, not the shoulders. Yes, it's a bit confusing, but if you take your time, you will find that the straps are assembled correctly. Put the tank on your back and adjust the straps. Make sure that the lower straps below the shoulder pads twist in a way that fits your body. If incorrect, remove that top connection to the tank and correct them. If worse comes to worse, you can cut the plastic rings off the ends of the shoulder adjustment straps and re-thread them in the correct orientation, but this should not be necessary. If so, be sure to use a lighter to melt the end of the strap to prevent fraying.

Not worth it, the loops on the top are too large and let the unit sag off your back. It isn't that much more comfortable than the existing straps particularly if they have already conformed to your body after a few years. And it seems to come loose all the time. Very disappointing. This particular unit took over 3 weeks to ship for some reason, at which point I was finished spraying.

I have an older version of a Solo sprayer so the shoulder strap attachments are sewn together and will not attach to my sprayer so had to do some mods. Comfort is OK but not great for a $50 strap...Should of of looked more at backpack leaf blower straps..
