Odin Sphere Leifthrasir - PlayStation 4 Standard Edition

Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir is a beautiful remake of the original PS2 Odin Sphere, released in 2007. This is NOT a remastered version; this is actually a remake of the original, with enhanced graphics and updated combat mechanics. The original was great; the remake is far better (and as a bonus, this actually includes the classic version as well, if you so wished to try it). The game features an interesting, character-driven story that revolves around warring kingdoms. As the player, you control one of five characters at a time, driving them through their narrative story. When you complete the story of one character, the second unlocks. When the second is completed, the third unlocks ... this pattern repeats until you complete all five characters stories. Each story helps explain all sides of the conflict, and each new story does a great job of explaining in the gaps/holes of other stories, or giving you insight as to what happens from the other sides point of view. The events of one character might take place before the subsequent character's, or during them, or after them (timeline wise). By the end, you are treated to an easy to follow yet complex and engaging story that unfolds beautifully. The game play is fluid, quick, and responsive. It's basically a side-scrolling action game that boasts combo-based attack systems, spells, and RPG character leveling/skills. One unique thing about the game is that the majority of your experience comes from preparing food. While you do get XP from killing enemies, eating food is your primary source. It's easy to pick up and dedicated players can really maximize leveling up using the combine alchemy system. All-in-all, as a person who generally dislikes food and alchemy in games, I love it in Odin Sphere. In terms of combat, each character is truly unique yet still maintains similar elements. You'll start at level 1 with each character when their story begins, but the game does a good job of giving you a feel for their play style before throwing you into the grinder. Overall, if your an RPG fan, Odin Sphere is one of those games you should definitely play. A full play through will net around 30-40 hours. The game is linear in terms of navigating you through it, though you are free to revisit battlegrounds to acquire more gold, items, and XP to power level your character. However, don't expect some large, open-ended experience. This game is not like that. I consider it a story-driven narrative with a fun and enjoyable combat system. You are either listening to characters talk, or you are killing things. There's not much in between the two.

This game is amazing. Great story and better gameplay - it works like a side scrolling platformer crossed with an old school beat em up (Streets of Rage, Final Fight). What is so impressive is how they implement RPG and fighting game mechanics into this framework. You can upgrade skills and abilities based on experience you gain through fighting (and through eating meals made from ingredients you collect after battles, which is honestly more fun than it should be), and then assign those skills to any number of button combinations. It allows you to dictate how you will physically play the game, and it gives you such a great sense of control over your character. Just wonderful stuff. The story and characters are solid and endearing in a fairy tale way, and the structure of the story will keep things fresh enough over the 40 or so hours the game commands. I absolutely recommend this game. If you have played the demo and enjoyed it, or are thinking about picking it up based off what you have heard or seen, get it now!

Awesome and beautiful game. I bought this because I was looking for a side-scrolling RPG style game. This game has lived above my expectations of what I want. In fact, I have went on to buy their other games. I even bought an older PS system, so that I could get one the games that has not been ported over to the PS4. There are many reviews posted on this game. I tend to like IGN. I will advocate the following: Beautiful world and art design. It keeps me coming back even through repetition. Good story. Good skills and leveling system. Good map design Potion system is nice. Characters are interesting. In general, I love this game, as well as their others. Its actually worth buying at full price.

Very good game. Gameplay, music, graphics, and areas were all great. The story was good enough to keep my interest. Controls were basic and button smashing can help you win many fights.

Have you ever seen a game online, thinking "god this game is beautiful!", and decided to buy it, only find out it could be the worst game ever? This game is not like that at all. It is a beautiful game, however simultaneously fun too! Sophisticated system, mature and smooth control, and interesting story. It has numerous characters to choose to start the game. The original boss fights are very exciting. It is full of imagination and creativity. Definitely the best 2d ARPG so far. I love it. Hope you can enjoy it too. Also, I platinumed the game in a week. That is how much I love it.

I put this disk in and my Ps4 loaded Madden 17 instead. I took the disk out and noticed that the disc art was bumpy. I pulled it off and lo’ and behold a copy of the masterpiece EA game Madden 17. I then checked the box art because I had a funny feeling (I mean, other than the giggling shock that you get when you realize you’ve been scammed in such a way), and it was printed on an 8”x11” piece of printer paper. I talked to customer service, and the seller only had one number on file, and it was disconnected.

I purchase this as a collectors item rather than open and play it since I own it digitally. However, when it arrived it was in a simple bubble wrap sleeve and the disk was rattling inside.

Absolutely love this game. My favorite side scroller ever. Even though its 2d the game feels 3d the way the use the maps system. At first I didnt get it but after going through a couple zones left or right I figured it out. The story is great. Graphics are beautiful. I HIGHLY ZRECOMEND THIS GAME. SETTING ON normal is nice and challenging. I'm going through it again on hard and holy hell. Took me about 10 hours to beat the first main story and I haven't completed the second one yet. Assuming about the same.

日本語版は遊んでいないのですが、英語の勉強も兼ねてと思い輸入盤を購入しました。 キャラクターの動作や口調の助けもあり、ストーリー部分は英語でも理解しやすいのですが、 ゲーム内の用語の説明などは少し難しいと感じました。 ただし、ストーリーも用語の解説も後で見返すことができます。これは内容を理解するのにとても助かりました。 ゲーム自体も面白く、購入してよかったと思いました。

Que decir de este juego, en primero, es de los creadores de Dragons Crown (PS4 PS3 Vita) y Muramasa (Wii Vita). Segundo. NO TRAE EL LIBRO DE ARTE. Esta versión no lo trae, sólo lo trae la de coleccionista. Cosa en mi caso no le vi gran problema, solo quería el juego en físico. El juego es hermoso, ya le traía ganas de jugarlo desde que lo anunciaron pero nunca había tenido oportunidad de comprarlo. En general sobre el juego e de decir que esta increíble tiene una historia algo curiosa pero con el paso del tiempo le captas fácil. El gameplay es muy fluido, el sistema de niveles también está decente, cada mapa tiene sus lugares secretos y bueno. No puedo decir más pues aún no e terminado el juego. Un pequeño detalle que quisiera aclarar con el vendedor es que corrijan esta publicación, se puede editar no sean flojos, quiten el que diga "incluye libro de arte" pues no lo trae, no engañen a la gente. Eso no afecta a mi calificación, igual le doy 5 estrellas.

Could have used more areas making use of the platforming elements and a bit more variety of good music and added a few more mechanics to play around with but overall the game is a must own for any jrpg fan. The combat, story, characters and environments are all top notch and some of the best in any game this generation imo. Very unique and fun game that was a breath of fresh air for me.

Valkyrie was my favourite side scrolling jack and slash story
