I always come back to this tool
I have used my Stanley chalk lines for many years. I am not a pro; just a guy who likes to fix old houses. I have used them for many things: to align shingles, check the alignment of boards on a long run, making a line to rip plywood with a skill saw, and frequently abused them by stretching the line from one corner post to the next while planting posts in between on a privacy fence. I misplaced the bag I keep my essential tools in once and could not find Stanley chalk lines locally so I bought 2 metal case chalk lines which were described as better, more durable chalk lines (I wore them both out before thankfully finding the bag with my Stanley chalk lines). I do have a laser, but I keep coming back to this older technology for 90% of what I do. True the chalk lines cannot shoot two lines at 90 degrees and an exactly vertical line at the intersection like a laser, but then they did not cost me over $300 either. Not to mention I can throw 2 of the chalk lines in my bag and they are so light I don't know they are there until I need them. The only set up needed is to start a nail or screw to hook the line on (and maybe hanging a bubble level on the string) when working alone. I can always go back to the laser if I need a plumb line and it is too windy to use one. Despite not having a metal case the Stanley chalk line has (in my limited experience) been more durable and is one of the most useful tools in my bag. If you pre-chalk the line properly the line is very visible. Recommended.

Not perfect, but does the job.
I have only used this for a couple of chalk lines, and I am hoping that it works better with more use. Even after winding and unwinding and shaking, I can't get a solid line. It works fine enough for what I needed it for but could be a problem when I really need a good line.

Handy little tool
This chalk line is one of my most used tools in my barn that I've been renovating. The string is high quality and the bottle of chalk has enough to last through multiple typical projects. The winding mechanism is strong, the housing is tough, and the sliding door for adding chalk does not open accidentally. I have dropped this and tossed this around and it still works as the day it was delivered. This is a much better way to get straight lines than trying to line up long levels or straight pieces of wood.

Plastic case
Durable plastic case perfect for project work but not sure if it would withstand vigorous construction ? Hsppy with product for my use.

Inexpensive and easy to use, just like the old school metal ones
These chalk reels used to be made of metal, but the plastic works fine for light duty applications. I needed this for measuring the chassis/suspension on a race car, and it worked great. Overall: 5/5 stars

Reliable chalk box
Pretty much a standard chalk line, which is what I was looking for. Winds, unwinds smoothly. Box holds chalk without leaks. String is good thickness. and takes tensioning well. Not too much stretch and leaves a nice, clean line.

Great value
The price is so cheap that I have to give it a 5. If it was a 50.00 item, I would expect more. It’s definitely worth every penny

Great quality and great price. Just note the chalk included with my order was rated as being a more temporary chalk, which was actually better for me. I didn't have to worry about extra chalk landing on my new cement. It lasted long enough for the job, but comes off easily as well.
