I purchased this as a mount for a GPS unit. It worked well for a few months. Then I took the GPS off and left the mount in the car with no weight on it. Then it started falling off. You can place it back on the dash, but then in a few days it will fall off again. This is without it having any weight on it. Can’t trust it to hold the GPS anymore.

This is definitely a strong and convenient holder for the phone or small tablet in the car. But the problem with inserting a metal plate in the rear cover of the phone is that it blocks the wireless charging function so you end up having to either removing the metal plate each time you want to charge the phone wirelessly or to charge using the wire. I think this will probably also affect the wireless mode of payment (eg. Samsung Pay) because of the metal. So I guess the user will have to decide which convenience to give up. If you are not someone who prefers the wireless mode, then this holder is great. But it's infortunately not for me because of the reasons I mentioned.

This is a great magnetic phone mount. Powerful magnet and great adhesion to the windshield. Mount is very adjustable and I really like that it periscopes in/out so that you can have your phone the perfect distance away from you. I'm now buying my third mount as the adhesive does eventually fail. When the adhesive starts to drip down your windshield, it's time to replace the mount. Shortly after this begins the mount will fall off the windshield. I have not found a solution to securely remount it once this happens. This mount is consistently lasting almost exactly three years. I ordered my first in 2017, second in 2020, and now in 2023 I'm ordering my third. For the price point, I think a three-year lifespan is acceptable. I'm sure it would last longer if I parked in shaded areas or a garage, but my car lives out in the hot sun which surely degrades the adhesive. Nothing on the mount has ever failed besides the adhesive. The adhesive is a pain to remove from your windshield, but it is removeable. Scrape off what you can with paper towels, use some soap / simple green / solvent to remove the rest. A plastic scraper is helpful in the process (I've used a surfboard wax scraper in the past, cheap and does the job).

This is the third one of these phone holders that I have purchased and I wouldn’t buy anything else. The phone stays stuck no matter how rough the road but is easily removed when needed. The only downside is that when the window suction cup is exposed to constant heat and sun it tends to break down and melt over time. But replacing the holder once every few years is fine since it’s a good price to begin with.
